St Anne's Hospital (Harare)
St Anne's Hospital is a Roman Catholic health facility located in Harare, Zimbabwe. St Anne's Hospital was established in 1941 by catholic sisters of the Little Company of Mary. The hospital has 165 beds and 6 theaters set on a three-storey building. The hospital was run by Fred Mtandah's CAPS Holdings, a Zimbabwean pharmaceutical company from 2004 to February 2016 when the hospital closed for refurbishments after some legal disputes between the catholic company and CAPS Holdings. In August 2020, St Anne's Hospital was opened as a COVID-19 response centre. In June 2021, the hospital was officially reopened for admissions and treatment of COVID patients and non-COVID-19 patients. The Little Company of Mary is a Roman Catholic religious institute of women (also referred to as the Blue Sisters) dedicated to caring for the suffering, the sick and the dying. The order was founded in 1877 in Nottingham, England by Venerable Mary Potter. The Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) is the Ministry (government department), government ministry responsible for health in Zimbabwe, health in Zimbabwe. Wedza District
Wedza (or Hwedza) is a district in the province of Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe. It is located about south of Marondera, and south of Harare. The area was sparsely inhabited by the Mbire people of the Soko Clan as early inhabitants who mined iron in the Hwedza hills during the 9th-12th centuries which means "a place of wealth". A village of Wedza was established in 1910 by Colonial administration. Gold, beryl, nickel, tungsten and grayite were mined in the hills around the village but deposits were too small to make further commercial mining viable. Etymology The word Wedza literally translates to "the lighting of the sun", or "twilight", and myth has it that the word is derived from the location of the ancient town, which was found on the other side of a deep forest.
