Saint Clement, Jersey
St Clement (Jèrriais: ''Saint Cliément'') is one of the twelve parishes of Jersey in the Channel Islands. Its parish hall is around south-east of St Helier. The parish has a population of 9,221 and is the second most densely populated. Located on the south-east coast of the island, stretching from Le Dicq in the west to near La Rocque in the east, it is the smallest parish, with a surface area of just 2,440 vergées (4 km2). The parish is largely suburbanised, with a large spread of post-war low-density housing development. There is no easily definable centre to the parish. The parish hall, schools and church are located in different areas. The parish is also home to a number of sports facilities, such as FB Fields and St Clement's Golf Club. Jersey Football Combination
The Jersey Football Combination is the senior football league on the island of Jersey and is run by the Jersey Football Association. Although the league is affiliated with the English FA, it does not form a part of the English football league system. Each year, the league champion plays the champions of Guernsey's Priaulx League for the Upton Park Trophy. History Originally, the Jersey Football Combination consisted of five divisions, with the Premiership and Championship open to first teams, with separate leagues for reserve sides. However, from the start of the 2015-16 season all first-team sides play in the Premiership, with a mid-season split into two divisions. However, after one season this was scrapped and the format changed again. From the 2016-17 season onwards the top 8 teams play in the Premiership and the other 7 teams play in the Championship. History The Jersey Football Association was founded in 1905 and affiliated itself with The Football Association based in England. This became a practice that the other British Crown Dependencies would follow. Though The FA treat Jersey like a county football board, the JFA run their own league system independent from the English football pyramid. During the Occupation of the Channel Islands by Nazi Germany, the JFA was not permitted to function by the Nazis and their pitches were confiscated.
