Basilica Of Saint Anthony Of Padua
The Pontifical Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua ( it, Basilica Pontificia di Sant'Antonio di Padova) is a Catholic church and minor basilica in Padua, Veneto, Northern Italy, dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua. Although the basilica is visited as a place of pilgrimage by people from all over the world, it is not the cathedral of the city, a title belonging to the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Mary of Padua. The basilica is known locally as "il Santo". It is one of the national shrines recognized by the Holy See. History Construction of the Basilica probably began around 1232, just one year after the death of St. Anthony. It was completed in 1310 although several structural modifications (including the falling of the ambulatory and the construction of a new choir screen) took place between the end of the 14th and the mid-15th century. The Saint, according to his will, had been buried in the small church of ''Santa Maria Mater Domini'', probably dating from the late 12th centur ...

Saint Anthony's Church (Gjakova)
Saint Anthony's Church ( sq, Kisha katolike e Shën Andonit, also known as ''Kisha e Shna Ndout'') is a catholic church and a cultural heritage monument in Gjakova, Kosovo. History and description Saint Anthony's Church is located on “Rruga e Katolikëve,” Gjakova's so-called “Catholic street,” opposite ''Saint Paul and Saint Peter’s Church''. The first church, named Father Milan's Church, was built there in 1882 but later destroyed. In 1931, Father Lorenc Mazreku built the present church on the same grounds and dedicated it to Saint Anthony of Padua, known in the Albanian language as ''Shen Ndout''. Renovations since yielded lodgings, offices, and bathrooms, but all have largely preserved the original structure, including its rectangular nave and dual bell tower oriented west-to-east. A simple, unadorned arch entryway leads through the narthex and nave to the chapel and in turn to the sacristy. The sparse interior rests on a rectangular, almost symmetrical foundatio ...

Saint Anthony's Chapel (Pittsburgh)
Saint Anthony Chapel is a Catholic chapel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Description Built in 1880 by Fr. Suitbert Mollinger, who was at that time pastor of Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish in the neighborhood of Troy Hill, the chapel houses 4,000 to 5,000 religious relics, making it the largest collection of relics outside the Vatican. History As originally planned, the building of the chapel was meant to be a joint effort between the congregation of Most Holy Name and Mollinger, who would match their contribution. However, when the parish refused to appropriate the large sum of money needed, Mollinger erected the building at his own expense with money which he had inherited from his family in Belgium. After the original dedication, additions were made to house the life-sized stations of the cross as well as the growing number of pilgrims, and so the enlarged chapel was rededicated on June 13, 1892, the feast day of Saint Anthony. Mollinger died tw ...

History Foundation St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica's roots go back to 1853 when the Catholic Church sent priests on horseback to minister to the settlers around the port of Beaumont. In 1879, Bishop Jean-Marie Odin, C.M., first bishop of the Diocese of Galveston, and Fr. Vital Quinon built St. Louis Church and established the first formal Catholic parish community in Beaumont.
