Sruthy Sithara
Sruthy Sithara (Malayalam: ശ്രുതി സിത്താര; born ) is an Indian model and actress. Born in Vaikom, Kerala, Sithara experienced gender dysphoria growing up, but embraced her transgender identity and came out after college. Sithara was one of four transgender people in the employment of the Government of Kerala, working in their Social Justice Department. Sithara began modeling in 2018. In 2021, Sithara was crowned Miss Trans Global 2021 after representing India in the eponymous beauty pageant. She was the first Indian transgender woman to win an international beauty pageant. Sithara played the lead role in ''Pink (2022 film), Pink'' (TBA). She has been involved in LGBT+ rights advocacy. Early life Sruthy Sithara was born in her hometown of Vaikom, Kerala. Miss Trans Global
Miss Trans Global is an annual international pageant for transgender women. According to itself, it is the biggest international advocacy pageant for transgender women. The event broadcasts live on multiple social networking websites from London, England. It has gained traction for transgender advocacy, raising awareness about queer culture and LGBT concerns, particularly in countries where transphobia and homophobia are prevalent. The pageant presents itself as a safe space for transgender women to share their lived experiences through speeches, talent shows, and art. Mela Habijan of the Philippines won the first edition of Miss Trans Global in an event held virtually on September 12, 2020. Sruthy Sithara of India won the second edition where she was the first Indian transgender woman to win an international transgender pageant.
