Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps
The Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) a corps of the Sri Lanka Army. The corps carries out much of the administrative work of the army. The role of the Corps is to provide logistic backing to Regular and Volunteer units by performing Financial/ Accounting Services, pay duties, legal services, running of agriculture projects and farms etc. Therefore, it is made up of Accountants, Legal Officers, Agriculture Offices, data processing officers and other ranks specialized in those fields. It is made up of a 3 regular units and 3 volunteer (reserve) units and is headquartered at its Regiment Center at the Panagoda Cantonment, Panagoda. Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps
The Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps (SLAWC) is a List of Sri Lanka Army regiments and corps, Sri Lanka Army corps. The headquarters of this corps is in Borella, Colombo and the corps has six battalions. The first battalion was raised in 1 September 1979. The regimental insignia of this corps is Viharamahadevi in a boat surrounded by gold colour sea and a vignette. Sri Lanka Corps Of Military Police
The Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) is the branch of the Sri Lanka Army responsible for the policing of service personnel and providing a military police presence on service property, operations and exercises. It is made up of three regular regiments and with headquartered at Regiment Center Polhengoda, Colombo. President's Counsel (Sri Lanka)
President's Counsel (postnominal PC) is an eminent lawyer who is appointed by the President of Sri Lanka to be one of the "President's Counsel learned in the law". The term is also recognized as an honorific which replaced the practice of appointment of Queen's Counsel (QC) which ceased when Sri Lanka became a republic in 1972. It is equivalent to the appointment of King's Counsel in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms, such as New Zealand, and the equivalent of Senior Counsel in Commonwealth republics, such as South Africa, and derives the same privileges such as the privilege of sitting within the Bar of court. Daya Perera
Lt. Colonel Daya Perera, PC (died June 16, 2013) was a Sri Lankan diplomat and lawyer, who was the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Canada and Ambassador to the United Nations in New York City. Education Educated at Royal College Colombo, Perera excelled in sports gaining college colours for rugby football and playing in the Bradby Shield Encounter as part of the first Royal College team to win the Bradby Shield. After leaving school he studied law at the University of Ceylon and Colombo Law College. Legal career After taking his oaths as an advocate, Perera worked as a crown counsel for the Attorney General's Department. The role of the corps is to carry supplies to the soldier where he is, and run an efficient organization for the provision of transport, fuel, oil and lubricants which are the 'life blood of an army’.
