Sreten Asanović
Sreten Asanović ( sr-Cyrl, Сретен Асановић; 22 February 1931 – 3 June 2016) was a Montenegrin author who established the short-story genre in that country. Asanović was born in Donji Kokoti, near Podgorica. He completed teacher-training school, focusing on preschool education. Asanović published his first story in the magazine ''Omladinski pokret'', in which he had already contributed movie reviews and written a column ("From the Lives of Famous People"). From 1957 to 1960, he was editor-in-chief of the Titograd (Podgorica) magazine ''Susreti''; editor for the Sarajevo magazine Oslobodjenje from 1960 to 1962; first editor-in-chief of the journal '' Odjek'' from 1963 to 1965; secretary of the Commission for Culture and Art in Belgrade from 1965 to 1972, and editor-in-chief of the Titograd magazine ''Stvaranje'' from 1973 to 1989. Cetinje
Cetinje ( cnr-Cyrl, Цетиње, ) is a List of cities and towns in Montenegro, town in Montenegro. It is the former royal capital ( cnr-Latn-Cyrl, prijestonica, приjестоница, separator=" / ") of Montenegro and is the location of several national institutions, including the Blue Palace, official residence of the president of Montenegro. According to the 2023 census, the town had a population of 12,460 while the Old Royal Capital Cetinje, Cetinje Municipality had 14,465 residents. Cetinje is the centre of Cetinje Municipality. The city rests on a small karst plain surrounded by limestone mountains, including Lovćen, Mount Lovćen, the legendary mountain in Montenegrin historiography. Cetinje was founded in the 15th century and became a cradle of the culture of Montenegro. Gustav Krklec
Gustav Krklec (; 23 June 1899 – 30 October 1977) was a Croatian writer and translator. Krklec was born in 1899 in Udbinja near Karlovac. In 1900, he moved with his family to Maruševec, a village near Varaždin. He studied in Vienna and Zagreb. In his youth, he worked as a journalist. Since 1922 he lived in Belgrade, working as a secretary at the stock exchange, and as an editor of '' Nolit''. In 1945 he returned to Zagreb, where he worked as an editor in several publishing houses and magazines. In the period 1950–1954 he served as the president of Matica hrvatska. He is one of the most significant Croatian poets of the first half of 20th century. His verses are marked by simplicity and the suggestibility of expression, by formal and metric artistry, and are characterised by the motifs of life's joy, anxiety and solitude. The Association of Writers of Yugoslavia or the Yugoslav Writer's Union (, , ) was an umbrella organisation of 6 of the constituent republics' writers associations in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Ulcinj
Ulcinj () is a town in the Coastal Montenegro, Coastal region of Montenegro and the capital of Ulcinj Municipality. It has an urban population of 11,488. As one of the oldest settlements in the Adriatic Sea, Adriatic coast, it was founded in 5th century BC. It was captured by the Roman Empire, Romans in 163 BC from the Illyrians. With the division of the Roman Empire, it was a part of the Byzantine Empire and Kingdom of Serbia (medieval), Serbian Kingdom in the Middle Ages until the Republic of Venice captured it in 1405. It was known as a base for piracy. In 1571, Ulcinj was conquered by the Ottoman Empire with the aid of North African corsairs after the Battle of Lepanto. The town gradually became a Muslim-majority settlement. Under the Ottomans, numerous hammams and mosques, and a clock tower were built.
