Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy, is a general degree college in Chempazhanthy, Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. It was established in 1964. The college is affiliated with Kerala University. It offers courses in arts, commerce and science. The Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy, on an undulating verdant campus of 30 acres, was formally inaugurated on 20 July 1964, by Sri. R. Sankar the then Chief Minister of Kerala. Prof. T.C. Rajan, the noted social scientist, was the first principal. Chempazhanthy
Chempazhanthy is a village in the suburbs of Thiruvananthapuram City, the capital of Kerala state in India, which lies about 7 km north. Chempazhanthy became notable after the birth of Sree Narayana Guru. There was a small hut called "Vayalvaaram" where Sree Narayana Guru was born, in the Malayalam Era year 1032 in the Malayalam month of 'Chingam' under the star 'Chathayam' (August, 1856 AD) . His father was Maadan (Maadan Aasan). His mother was Kuttiamma. They had four children, one boy (Guru) and three girls. The S.N. College is the landmark of the area. MA Vaheed
Adv. M.A. Vaheed (born 14 March 1950) is an Indian politician and advocate from Kerala. He belongs to the Indian National Congress and was the MLA for Kazhakkuttom in the Kerala Legislative Assembly for 15 years. Political career Vaheed entered politics through KSU, the students' wing of Indian National Congress in Kerala. He served as the taluk secretary, district vice president, and the district general secretary of KSU. He took an active role in the private college strike in the 1970s and was expelled from Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy. He later joined NSS College, Nilamel and continued studies. Vaheed became the president of the Thiruvananthapuram district Youth Congress in 1978, Kaniyapuram Coir Co-operative Society from 1983 to 1989, Andoorkonam Service Co-operative Bank in 1993, and KANFED in 1985. R. S. Vimal is an Indian filmmaker who works in Malayalam film industry.
