Spring Mills High School
Spring Mills High School is the fourth high school in the Berkeley County, West Virginia school system, which opened in fall of 2013. On opening, the student body was formed from about one-half of the student body of each of Martinsburg High School and Hedgesville High School, which had become overcrowded. The current principal is Mark Salfia. Berkeley County is located in the Shenandoah Valley in the Eastern Panhandle region of West Virginia in the United States. Martinsburg High School
Martinsburg High School is a public high school located in the upper Shenandoah Valley in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The school is an active member of the WVSSAC. The principal of the school is Trent Sherman. History and academics MHS struggled in the late 1960s due to budgetary constraints. The school had a different principal each year in 1968, 1969, and 1970, and did not have any cafeteria facilities on the premises. MHS graduated three National Merit Scholars in 1971. In 2011 Martinsburg High School became the 623rd official chapter of the Science National Honor Society. Martinsburg High School was the sixth high school in West Virginia to be recognized by the Science National Honor Society. Hedgesville High School
Hedgesville High School is located in Hedgesville, West Virginia, United States. Enrollment is around 1,300. Its mascot is the Eagle, and its colors are blue and gold. History Hedgesville High School began as a one-room log schoolhouse in 1866. The building was torn down and a new brick building was erected in 1884. A new high school building was erected in 1976. In 2004, U.S. President George W. Bush visited the school. Athletics The school is involved in WSSAC Secondary Schools for sports affiliation. The track team has won three state titles, in 1995, 2009, and again in 2017. The boys' basketball team won the 2012 AAA West Virginia State Championship. The baseball team also won state in 2013. Earl Ray Tomblin (born March 15, 1952) is an American politician who served as the 35th governor of West Virginia from 2011 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the West Virginia Senate from 1980 to 2011 and as president of the West Virginia Senate from 1995 to 2011. Tomblin became acting governor in November 2010 following Joe Manchin's election to the U.S. Senate. ''The Journal'' is a daily newspaper based in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and serving Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties in the state's Eastern Panhandle. It is owned by Ogden Newspapers. The Journal was established as ''The Evening Journal'' in 1907 by Harry F. Byrd, a future U.S. Senator and governor of Virginia.
