Hedgesville High School
Hedgesville High School is located in Hedgesville, West Virginia, United States. Enrollment is around 1,300. Its mascot is the Eagle, and its colors are blue and gold. History Hedgesville High School began as a one-room log schoolhouse in 1866. The building was torn down and a new brick building was erected in 1884. A new high school building was erected in 1976. In 2004, U.S. President George W. Bush visited the school. Athletics The school is involved in WSSAC Secondary Schools for sports affiliation. The track team has won three state titles, in 1995, 2009, and again in 2017. The boys' basketball team won the 2012 AAA West Virginia State Championship. The baseball team also won state in 2013. Tournament Of Bands
The Tournament of Bands (TOB) is one of the largest competitive band organizations in the United States and is one of several major circuits in the mid-Atlantic states (other circuits include Cavalcade of Bands and USBands). TOB was founded in 1972 by the National Judges Association and currently has 439 member bands. It provides a large array of competitive performance opportunities including marching band, indoor guard, majorette, percussion, and dance teams. TOB sanctions approximately 140 field band events as well as about 100 indoor events annually. Membership TOB is open to any elementary, middle, junior high, or senior high school, as well as any college or university. Chase DeLauter
Chase Daniel DeLauter (born October 8, 2001) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Cleveland Guardians organization. Amateur career DeLauter attended Hedgesville High School in Hedgesville, West Virginia, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. In 2018, as a junior, he batted .500 and also pitched to a 1.95 ERA with 64 strikeouts. As a senior in 2019, he went 9-2 with a 0.84 ERA over 66 innings alongside hitting .606 with eight home runs, 52 RBIs, and 21 doubles. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of West Virginia. After graduating high school, DeLauter enrolled at James Madison University to play college baseball. Wendell Gale Catlett Article refers to Catlett as "W. Gale Catlett". (born October 31, 1940) is a retired American basketball coach who was head coach at the University of Cincinnati and West Virginia University. QJ Peterson (born October 12, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for Nanjing Tongxi Monkey Kings of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Early life Peterson was born in Frederick, Maryland and was coached by Kelly Church at Hedgesville High School.
