Sportpark Westvliet
Sportpark Westvliet is a multi-sports park in Voorburg, Netherlands. Among others, it contains the grounds of VV Wilhelmus and the Voorburg Cricket Club. Cricket The first recorded match on the ground came in 2010 when Afghanistan played Scotland in a warm-up match for the 2010 World Cricket League Division One, which the Netherlands hosted. Despite having a boundary which is too short on one side, which is contrary to International Cricket Council regulation, the ground was nevertheless approved to hold One Day Internationals during the World Cricket League tournament. The first One Day International saw Afghanistan play Canada. Three further One Day Internationals were played there, however a further two matches were scheduled to be held there but were moved due to the pitch being deemed unsatisfactory. Voorburg
Voorburg is a town and former municipality in the west part of the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Together with Leidschendam and Stompwijk, it makes up the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg. It has a population of about 39,000 people. It is considered to be the oldest city in The Netherlands and celebrated its 2000th year of existence in 1988. The Netherlands national cricket team (Dutch: Nederlandse cricket team) is the men's team that represents the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is administered by the Royal Dutch Cricket Association. Richie Berrington
Richard Douglas Berrington (born 3 April 1987) is a Scottish cricketer. He played for Scotland in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka, and has since played first-class, One Day International, and List A cricket for Scotland. In June 2022, Berrington was named as the captain of the national team, after Kyle Coetzer stepped down from leading the side. Early life and youth career Berrington was born in Pretoria, South Africa, but he emigrated to Scotland as a child. Berrington played cricket for Scotland at a national level as a teenager, representing the country at every level from under-13s up to under-19s. Tom Cooper (cricketer)
Tom Lexley William Cooper (born 26 November 1986) is an Australian–Dutch cricketer who played for South Australia in Australian domestic cricket and for the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League (BBL). He is a right-handed middle order batsman and a right-arm off-spinner, and in addition to representing the Netherlands, he has represented Australia in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Cooper was born in Lismore in New South Wales, but after his youth career he moved to Adelaide and began playing domestic cricket for South Australia, earning a spot in their side in November 2008. Kenya National Cricket Team
The Kenya national cricket team represents the Republic of Kenya in international cricket. Kenya is an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) which has Twenty20 International (T20I) status after the ICC granted T20I status to all of their members. They have been an associate member of the ICC since 1981. Since then they have played in five Cricket World Cups from 1996 to 2011 with their best result being a semi-final appearance at the 2003 Cricket World Cup in Southern Africa. They have only qualified for one ICC World Twenty20 tournament with that being in 2007. The Kenyan national team is governed by Cricket Kenya. The Canada national cricket team represents Canada in international cricket. The team is organised by Cricket Canada, which became an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1968. With the United States, Canada was one of the two participants in the first ever international cricket match, played in New York City in 1844. The annual Canada–U.S. fixture is now known as the Auty Cup. Canada's first international match against a team other than the U.S. came in 1932, when Australia toured. World Cricket League
The ICC World Cricket League (WCL) was a series of international one-day cricket tournaments for national teams without Test status (i.e., teams of Associate status) administered by the International Cricket Council. All Associate Members of the ICC were eligible to compete in the league system, which featured a promotion and relegation structure between divisions. The league system had two main aims: to provide a qualification system for the Cricket World Cup that could be accessed by all Associate Members and as an opportunity for these sides to play international one-day matches against teams of similar standards. The league began in 2007, where teams were allocated into divisions based on their performance in the qualification tournaments for the 2007 World Cup; the six initial teams in Division One were the teams that had qualified for the 2007 World Cup. One Day International
A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. The Cricket World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. One Day International matches are also called Limited Overs Internationals (LOI), although this generic term may also refer to Twenty20 International matches. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited-overs competition. The international one day game is a late-twentieth-century development.
