BBC One
BBC One is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network owned and operated by the BBC. Sir Henry James "Harry" Pearce, KBE (born 1 November 1953) is a fictional character, head of the counter-terrorism department ("Section D") of MI5 as featured in the British television series '' Spooks''. Ben Richards (writer)
Ben Richards (born 1964) is a British screenwriter and novelist. He has been the lead writer on Spooks and is the writer/creator of Party Animals, Outcasts, COBRA and Showtrial. He also created “The Tunnel” from the Scandinavian original of “The Bridge” as well as adapting “The Cuckoo’s Calling”, the first in Robert Galbraith’s “Strike” series for BBC1. Career Before writing novels and TV dramas, he worked for three years as a housing officer in Newham and Islington, London. As a research student at UCL's Department of Geography he spent a year investigating public housing in Chile and on his return to Britain began his first novel "to alleviate the boredom of analysing questionnaires" for his PhD thesis. Richards was a lecturer at the University of Birmingham and at University College London, where he taught development studies, specialising in South America. He is now a full-time writer. Zinnie Harris
Zinnie Harris FRSE is a British playwright, screenwriter and director currently living in Edinburgh. She has been commissioned and produced by the Royal Court Theatre, Royal National Theatre, the National Theatre of Scotland and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Alrick Riley
Alrick Riley (born 1964) is a BAFTA award-winning English television director and writer, and former child actor. He is well known for his work on the British series '' Spooks'' (known as ''MI-5'' in some countries) and '' Hustle''; along with his more recent work on the American fairytale drama ''Once Upon a Time''. Life and career Riley was born in London, England. A shy lad, his Jamaican parents "made" him go to an acting club as a young child to force him "out of himself". The series eight premiere is the first episode in the eighth series of the British espionage television series '' Spooks'', and the 65th episode in total. It was originally broadcast on BBC One on 4 November 2009. The episode was written by Ben Richards and directed by Alrick Riley. It continues from the seventh series finale, where Sir Harry Pearce (Peter Firth) is willingly captured by Viktor Sarkisiian ( Peter Sullivan). In this episode, Harry is taken by Amish Mani (Ace Bhatti), a former Indian intelligence officer, who wants Harry to reveal the location of a secret uranium shipment he knows the location of, in order to build nuclear weapons. The episode marks the return of Nicola Walker as Ruth Evershed, who departed in the fifth series. Although there was media coverage on her return months before the broadcast of the episode, the producers were confident that only the "die hard" fans would be aware of this. Broadcasters' Audience Research Board
The Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB) is a British organisation that compiles audience measurement and television ratings in the United Kingdom. It was created in 1981 to replace two previous systems whereby ITV ratings were compiled by JICTAR (Joint Industry Committee for Television Audience Research), whilst the BBC did their own audience research. BARB is jointly owned by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising. Participating viewers have a box on top of their TV sets which tracks the programmes they watch. Peter Sullivan (actor)
Peter Sullivan (born 26 July 1964) is an English film and television actor. Life and career Sullivan was born in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. In 1982, he joined the National Youth Theatre, where he played Edmond in ''King Lear'', and then joined the Old Vic Youth Theatre playing the title role in ''Macbeth''. He studied at Central School of Speech and Drama from 1983 to 1986 and then in New York under Uta Hagen at HB Studio. Brian Protheroe (born 16 June 1944) is an English musician, actor and narrator. He is best known for his first single, "Pinball", which was released in August 1974, and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 40 and reached a peak of number 22. He has narrated the Channel 4 dating show ''First Dates'' since 2015. Career Music Protheroe was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, to a Welsh father and English mother. He joined a local church choir when he was twelve years old, and started piano lessons at about the same time. The music of Cliff Richard and the Shadows inspired him to start learning the guitar.
