''Spirits Walking Out'' is the debut solo studio album by the British pop singer Kit Hain. The track "Danny" became a minor success in the charts. The tracks "Looking for You" and "Parting Would be Painless" were both covered by Roger Daltrey of the Who and released on his solo studio album '' Parting Should Be Painless'' (1984). The LP was released in the USA by Mercury Records under the title ''Looking for You'', with a slightly different tracklisting. Kit Hain
Kit Hain (born 15 December 1956) is a British musician, songwriter and writer. She was a member of the rock duo Marshall Hain and had a solo career as a performer and songwriter. Musical career Hain met Julian Marshall while they were pupils at Dartington Hall School, and together they formed the British pop-rock band Marshall Hain. Marshall played the keyboard, while Hain performed vocals and bass. Their 1978 single "Dancing in the City" reached No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart. However, the band split when Julian Marshall found the pressure too much. Hain's first release after the duo split was "The Joke's on You", for Harvest Records. She then signed to Deram Records and subsequently Mercury Records for several singles and albums. Hain moved to the United States in 1985 and forged a successful career as a songwriter. Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. Deram Records was a subsidiary record label of Decca Records established in the United Kingdom in 1966. At the time, U.K. Decca was a different company from the Decca label in the United States, which was owned by MCA Inc. Deram recordings were distributed in the U.S. through UK Decca's American branch known as London Records. Mike Thorne (born 25 January 1948) is an English record producer, arranger, composer, engineer, and musician. He started playing the piano at the age of 10. After studying physics at Hertford College, Oxford, in the late 1960s he worked as a tape operator in London with Deep Purple and many others. Later he worked as a music journalist, A&R man and in the late 1970s he became a record producer. As a record producer, Thorne has worked on albums by artists of various genres of rock, including punk, post-punk, jazz fusion and also pop. He has produced for artists including Roger Daltrey, John Cale, Bronski Beat, Soft Cell, Nina Hagen, Laurie Anderson and Soft Machine. ''Parting Should Be Painless'' is the fifth studio album by English singer Roger Daltrey, released in February 1984, on the label Atlantic, in the United States, and on WEA in Germany, and Japan. The album was Daltrey's first solo album since the initial break-up of rock band the Who, and the first by any member of the band since the break-up. "Walking in My Sleep", "Parting Would Be Painless", and "Would a Stranger Do" were all released as singles. Two of those singles failed to chart, while "Walking in My Sleep" was a success, peaking at No. 4 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
