Spinnova Plc (natively Spinnova Oyj) is a Finnish sustainable material company, part of a handful of companies "racing to produce recycled fabrics on a commercial scale." The company has developed a technology, which can transform cellulosic fiber into fiber for the textile industry, with a mechanical process. The company’s headquarters and pilot factory are located in Jyväskylä, Finland and it also has offices in Helsinki, Finland. In 2021, Spinnova and its partner, Suzano Papel e Celulose announced plans to build the first commercial-scale fiber production facility in Jyväskylä. The facility is expected to open in 2024. Lyocell
Lyocell, originally trademarked in 1982 as Tencel, is a form of regenerated cellulose. It consists of cellulose fibers, made by dissolving pulp and then reconstituting it by dry jet-wet spinning. The fiber is used to make textiles for clothing and other purposes. Unlike rayon made by some of the more common viscose processes, Lyocell production does not use carbon disulfide, which is toxic to workers and the environment. "Lyocell" has become a genericized trademark, used to refer to the Lyocell process for making cellulose fibers. Marimekko
Marimekko Oyj is a Finnish textiles, clothing, and home furnishings company founded by Viljo and Armi Ratia in Helsinki in 1951. Marimekko made important contributions to fashion in the 1960s.
