Spinney is a 2-member ward within Kettering Borough Council, in Northamptonshire, England. It was established in boundary changes before the 1999 elections. The ward was last fought at borough council level in the 2003 local council elections, in which both seats were held by the Conservatives. Kettering is a market and industrial town in North Northamptonshire, England. It is located north of London and north-east of Northampton, west of the River Ise, a tributary of the River Nene. Ise Lodge Ward, formed from the merger of Millbrook ward and the majority of Spinney, was created by boundary changes in 2007 covering roughly the same area covered by Ise Valley Ward prior to 1999. The ward was last fought at borough council level in the 2007 local council elections, in which all three seats were won by the Conservatives. The current councillors are Cllr. Kettering Borough Council Elections 2007
Elections to Kettering Borough Council were held on 3 May 2007. The whole council was up for election with boundary changes since the last election in 2003 reducing the number of seats by nine. The Conservative Party retained overall control of the council. Candidates and election issues Both the Conservative and Labour parties put up candidates in all wards. A ward is a local authority area, typically used for electoral purposes. In some countries, wards are usually named after neighbourhoods, thoroughfares, parishes, landmarks, geographical features and in some cases historical figures connected to the area (e.g. William Morris Ward in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, England). It is common in the United States for wards to simply be numbered.
