Spill Festival
SPILL Festival of Performance is an artist-led biennale of experimental theatre and live art in the UK which began in 2007 and takes place in a variety of venues in London and Ipswich, England. The festival is produced by Pacitti Company and the Artistic Director is Robert Pacitti. Launched in 2007, the SPILL Festival presents new and experimental theatre and performance work from new and established work from UK and international artists. In addition to the biennale Festival SPILL National Platform and Showcase takes place every two years in Ipswich and presents artists in the early stages of their career working in the fields of live art, performance and experimental theatre, selected through an open submission process. Julia Bardsley
Julia Bardsley is an artist working with performance, video, photography, sculptural objects and the configuration of the audience. Her work challenges definitions of theatre and has been described as 'a major force in British experimental theatre and live art'. Education and career Bardsley began her career in theatre directing, writing and adapting works for the stage, and was joint artistic director of the Leicester Haymarket & Young Vic Theatres (1991-4). She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Middlesex University in 2007. Bardsley lectures at Queen Mary, University of London, and Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Richard Haynes (musician)
Richard Elliot Haynes (born 18 April 1983) is an Australian clarinettist residing in Switzerland. He performs music spanning the 16th to 21st centuries worldwide, but predominantly music by living composers, in a multitude of contexts. Education Haynes was born in Brisbane, Australia. He received piano lessons from 1989, and from 1992 viola and later clarinet lessons, graduating from high school in 2000. From 2000 to 2003 he studied clarinet, bass clarinet with Floyd Williams, Brian Catchlove and Diana Tolmie at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in Brisbane where he also obtained a Bachelor of Music in 2006. Julie Tolentino
Julie Tolentino is a visual and performance artist, dancer, and choreographer. Her work is influenced from an array of visual, archival, and movement strategies. Life Tolentino was born in San Francisco to a Filipino/Salvadoran family. She began formal dance training in ballet, modern, jazz and Contemporary dance, as well as Afro-Haitian and Flamenco. In 1980s, Tolentino moved to New York where she lived for twenty-five years, she then moved to the Mohave Desert and created an off-grid house/studio. Lee Adams
Lee Richard Adams (born August 14, 1924) is an American lyricist best known for his musical theatre collaboration with Charles Strouse. Biography Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Adams is the son of Dr. Leopold Adams, originally of Stamford, Connecticut and Florence Ellis (originally Elishack) Adams, originally of Racine, Wisconsin. His family is Jewish. He is a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio State University and a Master's from Columbia University. While attending Ohio State University he was a brother of the Nu chapter of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. He worked as a journalist for newspaper and magazines. He met Charles Strouse in 1949 and they initially wrote for summer-time revues. Ron Athey
Ron Athey (born December 16, 1961) is an American performance artist associated with body art and with extreme performance art. Forced Entertainment
Forced Entertainment is an experimental theatre company based in Sheffield, England, founded by Tim Etchells in 1984. Details and history Forced Entertainment originally focused on making and touring theatre performances before expanding to long durational performance, live art, video and digital media. Their work has been presented throughout the UK and Europe as well as Australia, Japan, Canada and the US.
