Sperillen Line
The Sperillen Line ( no, Sperillbanen) is an abandoned railway which ran through Ringerike in Viken county, Norway. The long line had five stations, starting at Hen Station on the Randsfjord Line and continuing to Lake Sperillen where it connected with a ferry at the port of Finstad. The rail line had additional stations and stops at Hallingby, Somma, and Ringmoen at the south end of Lake Sperillen. The steam ship DS ''Bægna'' had provided ferry and freight transport service from the southern end of Lake Sperillen to Sørum at Sør-Aurdal in Oppland at the northern end. ''Bægna'' went in service from her maiden voyage on 13 October 1868 and continued in traffic until 1929, when it was replaced with a motor ship, DS ''Spirillen''. Randsfjord Line
The Randsfjorden Line ( no, Randsfjordbanen) is an railway located in Viken county in Norway connecting Drammen to Hønefoss and Hadeland in Innlandet county. The railway is primarily used for passenger trains, and the only scheduled trains on the stretch are Norwegian State Railways express trains on the Bergen Line between Oslo and Bergen. Freight trains to Bergen go to Hønefoss via the Gjøvik Line. The railway is owned by the Norwegian National Rail Administration. Oppland
Oppland is a former county in Norway which existed from 1781 until its dissolution on 1 January 2020. The old Oppland county bordered the counties of Trøndelag, Møre og Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Akershus, Oslo and Hedmark. The county administration was located in the town of Lillehammer. Merger On 1 January 2020, the neighboring counties of Oppland and Hedmark were merged to form the new Innlandet county. Hallingby
Hallingby is a village in Ringerike municipality in the county of Buskerud, Norway. Hallingby is located north of Hønefoss, along the European route E16 towards Valdres and Western Norway. Hallingby was one of five stations on the now defunct Sperillbanen, an abandoned railway which ran through Ringerike between the village of Hen and the port at Finstad on Lake Sperillen. Hval Church (''Hval kirke''), an octagonal church built in 1862, is the main church in the parish. The church is an octagonal central nave church of timber from 1862 and has 250 seats. The church was built from the same drawings originally designed by architect Christian Heinrich Grosch for the Nes Church. The church was restored during 1902, 1924, and 1962. Viken (county)
Viken is a county under disestablishment in Eastern Norway that was established on 1 January 2020 by the merger of Akershus, Buskerud and Østfold with the addition of three other municipalities. Viken was controversial from the onset, with an approval rating of about 20% in the region, and the merger was resisted by all the three counties. Viken has been compared to gerrymandering.
