Akano Samuel (born 26 July 1987, known professionally as Spax) is a Nigerian record producer. He is known for producing "Damages" for Tems and executive producing ''Oxygene'' by Oxlade. He is notable with the mainstream sound tag "Classic" and "if it's Spax then it gotta be" which is well known in the African mainstream music scene. Early life and career Born in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria, and grew up in Lagos. In 2020, he produced "Damages", the only single from Tems's first EP, ''For Broken Ears''. On 27 March 2020, he executive produced '' Oxygene'' EP by Oxlade. In 2020, he was nominated for producer of the year at The Headies 2020. On October 2, 2021, he was among the Apple Music‘Oshe Naija’ campaign for Indpedence Day by Nigerian producers. Niger State
Niger is a state in the North Central region of Nigeria and the largest state in the country. Niger state has three political zones, zone A,B and C. The state's capital is at Minna. "Damages" is a song by Nigerian singer and record producer Tems. It was released on 17 September 2020. Written by Tems and produced by Spax, the song is the only single from Tems's first EP '' For Broken Ears'', which was released on 25 September 2020. The song peaked at number one on Apple Nigeria, number two on the Apple Music R&B Songs chart, and at number six on the TurnTable Top 50. On 24 November 2020, "Damages" became the most played song on Nigeria radio. Composition "Damages" is an alternative R&B / soul track. Temilade Openiyi (born 11 June 1995), known professionally as Tems, is a Nigerian singer. She rose to prominence after she was featured on Wizkid's 2020 single "Essence," which reached the top ten of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 after the release of a remixed version with an additional feature from Justin Bieber, and earned her a Grammy Award nomination. ''Oxygene'' is the debut extended play by Nigerian singer-songwriter Oxlade. It was released on 27 March 2020, through Troniq Music, and The Plug Entertainment. The extended play featured guest appearance from Moelogo. The EP combines elements from R&B, and Afropop with Neo-soul percussive rhythms. ''For Broken Ears'' is the debut extended play by Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer Tems. It was produced primarily by Tems, along with production from Spax, Omeiza and Tejiri Akpoghene, and was released on 25 September 2020 by Leading Vibes Limited. It spawned front several hits in 2022, including "Higher" which was sampled on Future's number one ''Billboard'' Hot 100 hit "Wait for U" and "Free Mind" which debuted on the chart, gaining Tems her first solo appearance.
