Spanish International Amateur Championship
The Spanish International Amateur Championship (Copa S.M. el Rey) is an annual amateur golf tournament in Spain for men. Prior to 2020 it was an "A" rated tournament in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. (The calculation of the ranking changed in 2020 and there were no longer any categories.) The tournament has been appointed as a qualifying event for boys for the European teams in the Junior Ryder Cup and the Junior Solheim Cup The Junior Solheim Cup is a version of the Solheim Cup for girls aged 12 to 18. Match Play
Match play is a scoring system for golf in which a player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents; as opposed to stroke play, in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In match play the winner is the player, or team, with the most points at the end of play. José Manuel Lara
José Manuel Lara (born 21 May 1977) is a Spanish professional golfer. Lara was born in Valencia, Spain. He turned professional in 1997, and has competed on the European Tour since 2001, having finished 11th in the previous seasons Challenge Tour rankings. From 2003 to 2012, he maintained his tour card by finishing inside the top 115 on the Order of Merit, with a best of 30th place in 2006. However, after a poor 2013 season in which he only made 7 cuts from 29 tour events, he finished 154th on the money list and failed to regain his card at Q-School. Maarten Lafeber
Maarten Lafeber (born 11 December 1974) is a Dutch professional golfer who won the Dutch, Swiss and Spanish amateur championships before turning professional in 1997. Lafeber was born in Eindhoven, North Brabant. He earned a European Tour card at the first attempt, but lost it at the end of 1998. After spending time on the second tier Challenge Tour, where he won the 1999 Tusker Kenya Open, he regained his place on the main tour for the 2000 season. In 2003 he became the first home player to win the Dutch Open since Joop Rühl 1947, and that remains his only win on the European Tour. In July 2005 he reached a career high ranking of 88 in the World Golf Ranking. Sergio García Fernández (; born 9 January 1980) is a Spanish professional golfer. He has played on the European Tour, PGA Tour and LIV Golf Invitational Series. García has won 36 international tournaments as a professional, most notably the 2008 Players Championship and the 2017 Masters Tournament. García was also the Chairman of Spanish football team CF Borriol. García has spent much of his career in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking, including over 300 weeks in the top 10 between 2000 and 2009, and over 450 weeks in the top 10 in total. Mikko Ilonen (born 18 December 1979) is a retired Finnish professional golfer who played on the European Tour, winning five times. He is considered to be the greatest golfer from Finland. Richard Finch (golfer)
Richard Finch (born 9 July 1977) is an English professional golfer. Finch is currently a member of the European Tour. He has been a member since 2005. Finch earned his card through Qualifying School in 2004. In his rookie season, he finished 60th on the Order of Merit, but missed out on the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award, which went to Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño of Spain. His best finish in 2005 was as joint runner-up in the Telecom Italia Open. Finch picked up his first professional win at the 2007 Michael Hill New Zealand Open. Tom Whitehouse (born 22 March 1980) is an English Professional golfer, professional golfer. Career Whitehouse was born in Birmingham and turned professional in 2002. Zane Leo Scotland (born 17 July 1982) is an English professional golfer. Scotland was born in Manchester and educated at The John Fisher School in Surrey. In 1997 he won a competition to find a British Tiger Woods. Álvaro Quirós García (born 21 January 1983) is a Spanish professional golfer. Quirós was born in Guadiaro, a borough of San Roque, Cádiz. He turned professional in 2004. Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (born 13 October 1980) is a Spanish professional golfer. He has played on the European Tour, winning seven times, and on the PGA Tour. Early life Fernández-Castaño was born in Madrid.
