High Sierra Music Festival is a multi-day music festival held in Quincy, California, United States, a mountainous area about 80 miles northwest of Reno, Nevada. History The first High Sierra Music Festival was in 1991, and was the genesis of High Sierra Music, of Berkeley, California. The festival is held each year the weekend of July 4. ''Live at the Fillmore'' is a DVD from Vida Blue, a trio led by Phish keyboardist Page McConnell. The video features a sold-out performance at San Francisco, California's The Fillmore captured on June 5, 2004. The trio was joined by the Spam Allstars, an Afro-Cuban sextet from Miami. During the performance, the band invited former Oakland A's pitcher Vida Blue, the band's namesake, onstage and behind the scenes to meet the band for the first time. The video also includes a 40-minute bonus DVD featuring footage from McConnell's stock car racing organization - "Team Vida Blue" - and footage from a 2004 Enduro race from Vermont's Thunder Road racetrack. Vida Blue (band)
Vida Blue is an electronic trio featuring Page McConnell (Phish), with Oteil Burbridge (The Allman Brothers Band, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Dead & Company), and Russell Batiste ( The Meters). Name Vida Blue got its name from the 1970s and 1980s Major League Baseball pitcher Vida Blue. Blue himself joined the band on stage in 2004 at The Fillmore in San Francisco. A hardcore band from Iowa City, Iowa had been using the same name through part of 2001. The band subsequently changed their name to Ten Grand after they sold the rights to the band name to McConnell for $10,000. History The band originated in 2001 when McConnell attended shows by both The Allman Brothers Band and The Meters, and approached both Burbridge and Batiste about the Vida Blue project, which they were interested in. The Illustrated Band
''The Illustrated Band'' is the second album from Vida Blue, featuring Phish keyboardist Page McConnell along with bassist Oteil Burbridge and drummer Russell Batiste. The album features four long tracks performed alongside The Spam Allstars, a Grammy-winning Afro-Cuban group that also toured as a part of the Vida Blue band in the summer of 2003 and the early winter of 2004. Shortly after the tour, Page McConnell briefly retired from the music business following the breakup of Phish, therefore ending all Vida Blue related activities indefinitely. The album title is a reference to Ray Bradbury's science fiction book ''The Illustrated Man''. Reception In a review for AllMusic, David Jeffries wrote that the album "makes for a funky good-time listen" but cautioned that "it's not the big payoff one would have hoped." Started in 1991, the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance is an annual festival held the second-to-last weekend of July in Trumansburg, New York, a small town ten miles north of Ithaca. Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival was a four-day music festival held annually in early June from 2004 to 2015 at Mulberry Mountain near Ozark, Arkansas. Named for the Wakarusa River, the festival was first held at Clinton State Park immediately outside of Lawrence, Kansas. It moved to its new location, just outside Fort Smith and Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2009. Langerado
Langerado Music Festival was an annual music festival, taking place in early spring in South Florida, first organized in 2003 by Ethan Schwartz. In 2008, the festival was held at the Seminole Big Cypress Indian Reservation in the Everglades.
