Southern Zaria
Southern Kaduna (formerly Southern Zaria) is an area inhabited by various non-Hausa peoples living south of Zaria Emirate of Kaduna State. It is located in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. Southern Kaduna consist of 12 local Government out of Kaduna State 23 Local Government. Some view it as being less of a geographical identity and more of an ethnic identity concept. Lere, Nigeria
Lere is a Local Government Area and town in Kaduna Kaduna State of Nigeria. Lere town is located geographically at the latitude 10 degrees 39 North and longitude 8 degrees 57 East. It is the headquarters of the Lere Emirate. The town and its environs has an estimated population of about 93,290 (2016). Lere Local Government has an area of 2,634 km2 and a population of 339,740 at the 2006 census. Its headquarters are in the town of Saminaka. The postal code of the area is 811. Hyam Language
Hyam is a regionally important linguistic cluster of Plateau languages in Nigeria. ''Hyam of Nok'' is the prestige dialect (Blench 2008). Writing the sociolinguistics of Hyam, Blench treats ''Sait,'' and ''Dzar'' as distinct varieties, and notes that ''Yat'' and ''Ankung'' may be viewed as separate languages, however, Hayab (2016) presents a differing opinion arguing that it is Ankung, a language called Iduya, that is not mutually intelligible to Hyam. Meanwhile, Hyam, which is spoken by the Ham people of Nigeria, popularly known as 'Jaba' in a recent study by Philip Hayab, a native of the area and a linguist who carried out in-depth research into the language, reveals that 'Jaba' has a Hausa etymology and is derogatory and should be discarded (John 2017). Tyap Language
Tyap is a regionally important dialect cluster of Plateau languages in Nigeria's Middle Belt, named after its prestige dialect. It is also known by its ''Hausa exonym'' as Katab or Kataf.McKinney, N. P. (April 1990), p. 255. It is also known by the names of its dialectical varieties including Sholyio, Fantswam, Gworok, Takad, "Mabatado" (Tyap 'proper'), Tyeca̱rak and Tyuku (Tuku).
