Southern Hotel (Perris, California)
Southern Hotel in Perris, California was built in 1886. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It is located at 445 S. D Street in the center of the city. Along with the Perris Depot, this is one of the two significant 19th century buildings still standing in the city. History Southern Hotel is the oldest surviving commercial building in Perris, built by Swiss immigrant couple, Bernardo and Marcellina Bernasconi. Bernardo Bernasconi was a rancher, and the family had six children. It was used as a hotel serving the San Jacinto - Perris stage line until approximately 1919, when it was converted into Bernasconi family residence. Matilda Bernasconi, the oldest child of the original builders, lived in the building until her death, after which the structure fell into a state of disrepair. The New Southern Hotel is a historical hotel in Jackson, Tennessee, USA. Location The hotel is located at 112-120 East Baltimore Street in Jackson, a city in Madison County, Tennessee, USA. History The site of the hotel once served as headquarters for Colonel Carroll Marsh of the 11th Illinois Regiment during the city of Jackson's Union occupation. By 1870, the house that stood there, known as the Trimmer House, was used as a hotel. In 1884, it was sold to Mrs. J. H. Day. She was responsible for expanding the hotel into a three-story building of Italianate and Queen Anne style, which included the addition of a three-story wing to the rear. The hotel's size and location made it the premier hotel during this time. Day operated the hotel until her death in 1914. The Columbia Southern Hotel, also known as the Shaniko Hotel, is a historic hotel, located in Shaniko, Oregon, United States. Built by the Columbia Southern Railway in 1900–1902 at the southern terminus of its line, the hotel was and remains the most imposing structure in Shaniko. It was the hub and focal point of the community during the heyday of the local wool industry in the early decades of the 20th century. In addition to lodging, it served as saloon, bank, stagecoach stop, dance hall, and general gathering place. The Great Southern Hotel & Theatre is an historic hotel and theater building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The building currently operates as the Westin Great Southern Columbus and the Southern Theatre. It opened on September 21, 1896 and is the oldest surviving theater in Central Ohio and one of the oldest in the state of Ohio. The Southern Theatre is currently owned and operated as a home for live concerts, plays and opera by CAPA (the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts).
