South Sudan National Cup
The South Sudan National Cup is an annual knockout association football competition in men's domestic South Sudanese football. Organized by the South Sudan Football Association, the cup began in 2012, not long after South Sudan gained independence. Wau Salaam FC is the most successful club in South Sudan National Cup history, holding three titles. In the most recent competition, nine teams competed in the cup. However, the competition has only been held three times, most recently in 2014. History South Sudan gained its independence from the country of Sudan on July 9, 2011, after a referendum was passed into law. The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) was formed in April 2011 and has gained membership of FIFA, CAF and CECAFA. South Sudan Football Association
The South Sudan Football Association (S.S.F.A.) is the governing body of football in South Sudan. It was established in April 2011 and is an affiliate of CECAFA, CAF and FIFA. In club football, the SSFA oversee the South Sudan Football Championship, South Sudan Premier League, the national cup and Super Cup. Formation In April 2011, the Government of South Sudan's (GOSS) minister for Youth, Sports and Recreation, Makuac Teny Youk issued a ministerial order establishing the Provisional Football Association. The association was in office for one year and managed, promoted and supervised football affairs in South Sudan. It was led by Oliver Mori Benjamin as President, Doub Foj Jok as Vice President, Rudolf Andera Oujika as Secretary General, and Jaden Jada Solomon as the Treasurer. It had a total of 17 members. Western Equatoria
Western Equatoria is a state in South Sudan. It has an area of . Its capital is Yambio. The state was divided into counties, each headed by a County Commissioner. Western Equatoria seceded from Sudan as part of the Republic of South Sudan on 9 July 1956. On October 2, 2011, the state was divided into Amadi, Maridi, and Gbudwe states, and Tambura State was split from Gbudwe state on January 14, 2015. Upper Nile (state)
Upper Nile is a state in South Sudan. The White Nile flowes through the state, giving it its name. The state also shares a similar name with the region of Greater Upper Nile, of which it was part along with the states of Unity and Jonglei. It had an area of . Malakal was the capital of the state. The town of Kodok, the location of the Fashoda Incident that ended the "Scramble for Africa", was located in the state. Central Equatoria
Central Equatoria is a state in South Sudan. With an area of , it is the smallest of the original South Sudanese states. Its previous name was Bahr al-Jabal (also Bahr-el-Jebel), named after a tributary of the White Nile that flows through the state. It was renamed Central Equatoria in the first Interim Legislative Assembly on 1 April 2005 under the government of Southern Sudan. Juba () is the capital and largest city of South Sudan. The city is situated on the White Nile and also serves as the capital of the Central Equatoria State. It is the world's newest capital city to be elevated as such, and had a population of 525,953 in 2017. It has an area of , with the metropolitan area covering . Merreikh Aweil Football Club is a South Sudanese federation football club based in Aweil, South Sudan. It plays at Aweil Stadium which is currently known as Madane Horia (which is translated, "Pitch of Freedom"). The word Merreikh means The Mars in the Arabic language.
