Mahatma Gandhi Road also known as MG Road is a road in Bangalore, India. It runs east from Trinity Circle at one end to Anil Kumble Circle at the other. Known as South Parade in pre-independence era, it was renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Road on 26 February 1948. M. G. Road is also one of the busiest roads in the city and is lined on one side with retail stores, food outlets, restaurants and many more. It has many office buildings, shops and theatres. It is also a home to many buildings and banks. There are two Metro stations on M. G. Road, the eponymous station and Trinity. Presently, the M.G Road Boulevard is being reconstructed after construction of the MG Road Metro station was completed and services launched on 20 October 2011. Trinity Metro Station
Trinity is a station in the Purple Line of the Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. It was opened to the public on 20 October 2011. The station was constructed by Punj Lloyd. History On 9 July 2014, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) issued a tender for co-branding the station with a large corporation. The winning company will be given signage and a kiosk in the station, and their name will become part of the station name, and announced when the stop is called on board the trains. Station Structure Basement The BMRCL constructed a 4,000 sq ft area basement at the station in early 2016. The agency initially planned to use the space for storage, but later decided to rent it out for use by cultural groups. Initially, music jams occurred in basement, but it was more suited for theatre. Mahatma Gandhi Road, commonly referred to by the abbreviation MG Road, is a station on the Purple Line of the Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. It was constructed by Punj Lloyd and opened to the public on 20 October 2011. The station MG Road has a bicycle stand next to the Urban Square, from where commuters can rent cycles. This metro station will serve as Namma Metro's 2nd interchange station after Majestic metro station for the upcoming Pink Line. History Boulevard The old MG Road boulevard was demolished to build Namma Metro. The reconstruction work was contracted to Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation and Karnataka Land Army Corporation. The deadline for completion was fixed as March 2012. However, the work was delayed when the ground was found to be unstable and had to be reinforced.
