South Elgin is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 23,865. In 2007, ''Money'' magazine named South Elgin as 82nd of 100 entries in its "America's Best Places to Live" edition and again in 2011 as 98th of 100 entries. The Upstate Eight Conference (''UEC'', ''U8C'', or ''Upstate 8'') is an organization of ten high schools in northeastern Illinois, representing ten communities in Chicago's suburbs. These high schools are all members of the Illinois High School Association. The high schools of the Upstate Eight Conference are located in Kane County, Cook County, and DuPage County. Jake Anthony Kumerow (born February 17, 1992) is an American football wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Illinois and UW–Whitewater, and was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2015. Christopher Cale Morris (born May 22, 1996) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL). Following success in the United States Hockey League with the Chicago Steel and Waterloo Black Hawks, Morris joined the University of Notre Dame in the Big Ten Conference (B1G). During the 2017–18 season, he was awarded the Mike Richter Award as the most outstanding goaltender in Division I NCAA men's ice hockey, Big Ten Goaltender of the Year and Big-Ten Player of the Year as he led Notre Dame to the 2018 NCAA National Championship Finals.
