South Cairns Cutters
The South Cairns Cutters Australian Football Club is an Australian rules football and netball club located at Fretwell Park in the southern suburbs of Cairns. The football squad currently plays in the semi-professional AFL Cairns League. Club history The club was a foundation member of the league and played in the inaugural season in 1956. South Cairns won the league's first premiership. Due to lack of players in 1963, the club merged with Balaclava to form South Balaclava A.F.C, this team as known as the swans. In 1984 the club became known as South Cairns. The club's colours were red and white. In 1995 the committee voted to change the club's name from Swans to Cutters and the colours to red, white and green. AFL Cairns is a semi-professional Australian rules football league that includes clubs from the Cairns region in Queensland, Australia. It is widely regarded as the strongest regional Australian rules football league in Queensland and has a large base at Cazalys Stadium which has staged Australian Football League matches. Fretwell Park
Fretwell Park is a cricket ground in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. The ground held a first-class match in 2006 when New Zealand Whites played Pakistan A as part of the 2006 Top End series. The match was abandoned due to rain, as a result it was decided to replace the match with two List A games between the sides. AFL is also played on this ground by the South Cairns Cutters. Cairns (, ) is a city in Queensland, Australia, on the tropical north east coast of Far North Queensland. Cazaly's Stadium
Cazalys Stadium is a sports stadium in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. It is situated in the suburb of Westcourt. The stadium is named after the social club which abuts the oval, Cazalys, which itself was named after Australian rules footballer Roy Cazaly. With a capacity of approximately 13,500 people, Cazalys Stadium is the largest oval stadium in Cairns and features a main grandstand relocated from the Brisbane Cricket Ground in the late 1990s. Bentley Park is a suburb of Cairns within the local government area of Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. It is located approximately south of the Cairns City. Jarrod Harbrow (born 18 July 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Harbrow was born in Cairns to an Indigenous Australian mother from Cairns and a Caucasian father from Mooroopna, Victoria. His indigenous ancestry can be traced to the Yirrganydji, a rainforest tribe in Far North Queensland.
