South Australian PGA Championship
The South Australian PGA Championship was a professional golf tournament played in South Australia. It was first held in 1927. History The first South Australian Professional Championship was held in 1927 and was a 72-hole stroke-play event. It was won by Rufus Stewart, four ahead of Fergus McMahon. Stewart had recently won the Australian Open. McMahon won in 1928, 1929 and 1930, and as a three-time winner he permanently kept the trophy that had been presented in 1927. With only a small number of professional in the state, there were only four different winners in the first 15 championships. Stewart won 6 times and McMahon 5 times, while Alf Toogood won twice, before he moved to Tasmania, and Willie Harvey also won twice, in 1938 and 1940. Ashley Hall (golfer)
Ashley Hall (born 3 November 1983) is an Australian professional golfer. He played on the Web.com Tour from 2013 to 2015. He was in a playoff in successive events in 2013, the United Leasing Championship and the Utah Championship, but lost on both occasions. At the end of 2016 he lost another playoff in the Emirates Australian Open and was 4th in the Australian PGA Championship two weeks later. Aaron Townsend (born 4 July 1981) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour of Australasia. He has also played a number of events on the European Tour, Challenge Tour and Web.com Tour. Professional career Townsend turned professional in 2003. Peter Albert Charles Senior (born 31 July 1959) is an Australian professional golfer who has won more than twenty tournaments around the world. Senior has competed mainly on the PGA Tour of Australasia, where he has had the most success and won the Order of Merit on four occasions, and the European Tour.
