South American Championship 1942
The seventeenth edition of the Copa América, South American Championship was held in Montevideo, Uruguay from 10 January to 7 February. For the first time seven teams took part of the event; the participating countries were Argentina national football team, Argentina, Brazil national football team, Brazil, Chile national football team, Chile, Ecuador national football team, Ecuador, Paraguay national football team, Paraguay, Peru national football team, Peru, and Uruguay national football team, Uruguay. Bolivia national football team, Bolivia, and Colombia national football team, Colombia withdrew from the tournament. Herminio Masantonio
Herminio Masantonio (5 August 1910 – 11 September 1956) was an Argentine football centre-forward. He played most of his career for Huracán and represented Argentina at international level. Masantonio is one of Huracán's legends, being the all-time top scorer of the club. Besides, he is placed 3rd. in the list of Argentine Primera División top scorers with 253 goals in 358 matches. Despite those outstanding marks, Masantonio was never top scorer of an individual season. He didn't win any official title with Huracán, either. Vicente Sánchez (paraguayan Footballer)
Vicente Martín Sánchez Bragunde (; born 7 December 1979) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who last played as a right winger for Rio Grande Valley FC Toros in the USL Championship. He has the second most goals all time for Deportivo Toluca and the eighth most appearances for Toluca. Club career Sánchez was born in Montevideo. He played for Sud América, Tacuarembó, Deportivo Toluca, FC Schalke 04, América and Nacional. On 18 January 2008, he joined German club Schalke, where he remained for two seasons. He played in Mexico again for Club América. On 1 August 2010, he scored his first goal for Club América in a match versus Chiapas. Armando Contreras
Luis Armando Contreras Reyes (15 June 1919 – 3 August 1991), known as Armando Contreras, was a Chilean footballer who played as a winger. Club career Born in , an extinct commune in the current Antofagasta Province, Contreras made his debut with Colo-Colo in 20 May 1939. In 1943–44 he played for Argentine club Banfield.
