Sosefo Suve is a Wallisian politician and member of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna. He was President of the Territorial Assembly from 2012 to 2013. Suve was a schoolteacher. He was first elected to the Territorial Assembly at the 2012 Wallis and Futuna Territorial Assembly election. He was a candidate for Assembly President following the election, but was defeated by Vetelino Nau by 11 votes to 9. Territorial Assembly Of Wallis And Futuna
The Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna (French: ''Assemblée Territoriale''; Wallisian and Futunan: ''Fono fakatelituale'') is the legislature of Wallis and Futuna. It consists of 20 members, elected for a five-year term by proportional representation in multi-seat constituencies. The Assembly sits in Mata Utu, the capital of the territory. History The Assembly was established by article 11 of the 1961 statute which established Wallis and Futuna as an overseas territory. Vetelino Nau
Vetelino Nau is a Wallisian politician and former member of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna. He was President of the Territorial Assembly from April to November 2012. Nau is from Alo in Futuna and was a schoolteacher before entering politics. He was first elected to the Territorial Assembly in the 1997 election. In 2002 he was a founder of the People's Union for Wallis and Futuna (UPFW). He contested Wallis and Futuna's senate seat in the 2008 French Senate election, losing to Robert Laufoaulu by 8 votes to 13. He was re-elected to the Territorial Assembly at the 2012 election and elected as president of the assembly, becoming the first Socialist to hold the position. He was replaced by Sosefo Suve in November 2012. Nivaleta Iloai was a politician from Wallis and Futuna. She served as the first female president of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna from April 1 to December 11, 2013, as well as November 26, 2020 to March 25, 2022. She was a member of the Union socialiste pour Wallis-et-Futuna, and represented the constituency of Hihifo. Nivaleta Iloai was replaced as president by Petelo Hanisi in her first term, after serving only 8 full months. She was again elected president of the Territorial Assembly on November 26, 2020, serving for two more years until 2022. Territorial Assembly elections were held in Wallis and Futuna on 25 March 2012. Thirty party lists contested to fill the twenty seats. The major election issues were the cost of living, economic development, and wallis and Futuna's relationship with France. Turnout was 85.95%. Only nine incumbents were re-elected.
