Soroni ( el, Σορωνή) is a small village on the island of Rhodes, Greece, on the northwest coast of the island. It was the seat of the former municipality of Kameiros Camirus or Kamiros ( grc, Κάμιρος; ) or Cameirus or Kameiros (Κάμειρος) was a city of ancient Rhodes, in the Dodecanese, Greece. Rhodes
Rhodes (; el, Ρόδος , translit=Ródos ) is the largest and the historical capital of the Dodecanese islands of Greece. Administratively, the island forms a separate municipality within the Rhodes regional unit, which is part of the South Aegean administrative region. The principal town of the island and seat of the municipality is Rhodes. The city of Rhodes had 50,636 inhabitants in 2011. In 2022 the island has population of 124,851 people. It is located northeast of Crete, southeast of Athens. Kameiros (municipality)
Kameiros ( el, Δήμος Καμείρου) is a former municipality on the island of Rhodes, in the Dodecanese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it has been part of the municipality of Rhodes, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit lies on the northwest coast of Rhodes, stretching inland into the north-central part of the island. The seat of the municipality was in Soroni (pop. 1,278 in 2011). Other large towns are Apóllona (845), Fanes (858), Salakos (571), and Kalavárda (502). It did not include the small port of Kameiros Skala, which was in Attavyros municipality (now municipal unit). The municipal population was 4,720 at the 2011 census, and the land area is 211.825 km². South Aegean
The South Aegean ( el, Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου, translit=Periféria Notíou Eyéou, ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. It consists of the Cyclades and Dodecanese island groups in the central and southeastern Aegean Sea. Administration The South Aegean region was established in the 1987 administrative reform. With the 2010 Kallikratis plan, its powers and authority were redefined and extended. The regional unit covers the islands of Rhodes, Chalki, Kastelorizo, Symi, Tilos and several smaller islands in the Aegean Sea. Silas
Silas or Silvanus (; Greek: Σίλας/Σιλουανός; fl. 1st century AD) was a leading member of the Early Christian community, who according to the New Testament accompanied Paul the Apostle on his second missionary journey. Name and etymologies ''Silas'' is traditionally assumed to be the same as the ''Silvanus'' mentioned in four epistles. Some translations, including the New International Version, call him "Silas" in the epistles. Paul, Silas, and Timothy are listed as co-authors of the two New Testament letters to the Thessalonians, though the authorship is disputed. The ''Second Epistle to the Corinthians'' mentions Silas as having preached with Paul and Timothy to the church in Corinth (), and the First Epistle of Peter describes Silas as a "faithful brother" ().
