Sonny Spencer
Sonny Spencer (18 May 1903 – 21 November 1943) was a British middle-distance runner. He competed in the men's 1500 metres at the 1924 Summer Olympics. He was killed in action during World War II. Personal life Spencer served as a sergeant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. He was killed in a night training accident when his Short Sunderland crashed at Nigg on 21 November 1943. Mitcham is an area within the London Borough of Merton in South London, England. It is centred southwest of Charing Cross. Originally a village in the county of Surrey, today it is mainly a residential suburb, and includes Mitcham Common. It has been a settlement throughout recorded history.
