Sonny Maher
Martin Joseph Maher (10 November 1921 - 11 February 1999) was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Boherlahan–Dualla and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career Maher's hurling career began as a schoolboy when, in 1934, he was a member of the Ballytarsna team that won the initial rural juvenile title. He later joined the Boherlahan–Dualla club and won a Tipperary SHC title in 1941. Maher continued to line out at club level until 1956, by which time he had also won two Mid Tipperary SHC titles. Maher never played in the minor or junior grades with Tipperary, but joined the senior team in 1943. After a period away from the team he was recalled and lined out at full-forward when Tipperary won three successive All-Ireland SHC titles from 1949 to 1951. Boherlahan–Dualla GAA
Boherlahan–Dualla GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club associated with the villages of Boherlahan and Dualla in County Tipperary, Ireland. The parish of Boherlahan–Dualla is a large parish in Tipperary, and Boherlahan-Dualla GAA club competes in the Mid-Tipperary Division. The Boherlahan–Dualla parish borders seven parishes from three separate divisions, Holycross–Ballycahill GAA and Moycarkey–Borris GAA to the north who play in the Mid-Tipperary division, to the west it borders Knockavilla–Donaskeigh Kickhams GAA, Clonoulty–Rossmore GAA, Golden–Kilfeacle GAA and Cashel King Cormacs GAA, all of whom play in the West Tipperary division, and to the east, Killenaule GAA who play in the South Tipperary division. The club is primarily involved in hurling, and throughout its history has produced many hurlers who have competed for the club and for the Tipperary county team. Munster Senior Hurling Championship
The Munster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster GAA, Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). The 1950 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 64th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The 1965 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 79th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. Michael Maher (hurler)
Michael Maher (1930 – 8 March 2017) was an Irish hurler and Gaelic games administrator. His league and championship career with the Tipperary senior team spanned fifteen seasons from 1951 to 1966. Born in Holycross, County Tipperary, Maher was born into a strong hurling family. His uncle, Mikey Maher, was a five-time All-Ireland medal winner with Tipperary between 1895 and 1900, while his cousin, Sonny Maher, won three successive All-Ireland medals between 1949 and 1951. Maher played competitive hurling during his secondary education at Thurles CBS. He later joined the Holycross–Ballycahill team, winning his first senior county championship medal as an eighteen-year-old in 1948. Maher added two more championship medals to his collection in 1951 and 1954. Maher made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected for the Tipperary minor team.
