''Songs from the Black Hole'' is a cover album by American metal band Prong, released on March 31, 2015. According to frontman Tommy Victor, the goal of the cover album was to explore musical roots of the band and "the vast landscape that makes up the band's sound". He stated, it should visualize "the theme of urban decay, desolation, insecurity and ultimate change". The basic tracks were recorded with Peter Funke in Trixx Studios in Berlin, Germany. The album was mixed and mastered by Chris Collier at Mission:Black Studios in Santa Clarita, California, with additional guitars also recorded there. Vocals were recorded by Collier at Lynchbox Studios also in Santa Clarita. Jason Christopher added background vocals on "Give Me the Cure". The cover artwork was created by Mike Lopez. Prong (band)
Prong is an American heavy metal band formed in New York City in 1986. The band is fronted by guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor, Prong's sole constant member. To date, they have released 12 studio albums (including a covers album), one live album, four EPs, one DVD and one remix album. Prong had two independent releases, '' Primitive Origins'' (1987) and ''Force Fed'' (1989), which attracted the attention of Epic Records, who signed the band in 1989. Their first two albums on Epic, ''Beg to Differ'' (1990) and '' Prove You Wrong'' (1991), were released to critical acclaim and garnered attention on MTV's ''Headbangers Ball''. The band's 1994 album ''Cleansing (album), Cleansing'' was also successful, and included one of their well-known songs "Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck". ''Adolescents'', also known as ''The Blue Album'' due to its cover design, is the debut studio album by American punk rock band the Adolescents, released in April 1981 on Frontier Records. Recorded after guitarist Rikk Agnew and drummer Casey Royer joined the band, it features several songs written for their prior group, the Detours, including "Kids of the Black Hole" and "Amoeba", which became two of the Adolescents' most well-known songs. ''Adolescents'' was one of the first hardcore punk albums to be widely distributed throughout the United States, and became one of the best-selling California hardcore albums of its time. The band never toured in support of it, and broke up four months after its release. Arthur Cruz (born May 27, 1988) is an American musician, best known as the drummer of heavy metal band Lamb of God. He is the former drummer of Winds of Plague, Prong and Klogr. Early life Cruz was born May 27, 1988, in Downey, California. He grew up in the suburb city of South El Monte located east of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley. While attending South El Monte High School, Cruz joined the marching band percussion section and performed from 2004–2006. Music career Winds of Plague In 2008, Cruz was asked to join Winds of Plague and recorded the album '' The Great Stone War''. The album peaked at No. 72 on the Billboard 200. "Cortez the Killer" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young from his 1975 album, '' Zuma''. It was recorded with the band Crazy Horse. It has since been ranked No. 39 on '' Guitar World's'' 100 Greatest Guitar Solos and No. 329 on '' Rolling Stone's'' list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Young has stated in concert that he wrote the song while studying history in high school in Winnipeg. Hüsker Dü () was an American punk rock band formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1979. The band's continual members were guitarist/vocalist Bob Mould, bassist/vocalist Greg Norton, and drummer/vocalist Grant Hart. Black Flag is an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. Initially called Panic, the band was established by Greg Ginn, the guitarist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member through multiple personnel changes in the band.
