Songbei District () is one of nine District (China), districts of the prefecture-level city of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang, Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China, Northeast China, forming part of the city's urban core. Its name literally means "north of Song", referring to its position north of the Songhua River which runs through the city. It borders the districts of Hulan District, Hulan to the northeast, Daowai to the east, and Daoli to the west, as well as the prefecture-level city of Suihua to the north and west. Harbin (; mnc, , v=Halbin; ) is a sub-provincial city and the provincial capital and the largest city of Heilongjiang province, People's Republic of China, as well as the second largest city by urban population after Shenyang and largest city by metropolitan population (urban and rural together) in Northeast China. Harbin has direct jurisdiction over nine metropolitan districts, two county-level cities and seven counties, and is the eighth most populous Chinese city according to the 2020 census. The built-up area of Harbin (which consists of all districts except Shuangcheng and Acheng) had 5,841,929 inhabitants, while the total metropolitan population was up to 10,009,854, making it one of the 50 largest urban areas in the world. Songpu Subdistrict
Songpu Subdistrict is a subdistrict of Songbei District, Harbin, Heilongjiang, China. It is located in the north of Harbin city, on the north bank of the Songhua River, 5 kilometers from the city center. The area of Songpu is , and the population is about 35,000. Etymology The meaning of Songpu is ''the wharf of Songhua River''. Geography Songpu is located on the north bank of the Songhua River. At the east and south the north is Limin of Hulan, while in the west is Qianjin and Binzhou Railway. Harbin Hotel Fire
On 25 August 2018, a fire broke out at the Beilong Hot Spring Hotel () in Harbin. Located in the city's () resort area, the four-storey brick-and-concrete hotel mostly accommodates domestic tourists and was hosting over 100 people at the time, many of whom were visiting for an annual marathon. The fire resulted in 20 deaths and 23 injuries. Fire At 04:36 on 25 August, a fire broke out in a kitchen of a karaoke bar on the hotel’s second floor. Many of the guests, mostly Chinese tourists staying for the 2018 Harbin International Marathon, were asleep. The fire itself spread over along the second through fourth floors and first floor main hall. Smoke from combustibles in the kitchen and karaoke bar spread up the stairways and air systems into the hallways, requiring firefighters to evacuate more than 80 guests with at least 20 needing rescue. Hulan District
Hulan District () is one of nine districts of the prefecture-level city of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China. It covers part of the northeastern suburbs. The district was approved to establish from the former ''Hulan County'' () by the Chinese State Council on February 4, 2004. It borders Bayan County to the east, Bin County to the southeast, Daowai District to the south, and Songbei District to the southwest, as well as the prefecture-level city of Suihua to the northwest. Daoli District () is one of nine districts of the prefecture-level city of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China, forming part of the city's urban core. It is located on the Songhua River. It borders the districts of Songbei to the north, Daowai to the northeast, Nangang to the east, and Shuangcheng to the south, as well as the prefecture-level city of Suihua to the northwest. Heilongjiang () formerly romanized as Heilungkiang, is a province in northeast China. The standard one-character abbreviation for the province is (). It was formerly romanized as "Heilungkiang". It is the northernmost and easternmost province of the country and contains China's northernmost point (in Mohe City along the Amur) and easternmost point (at the junction of the Amur and Ussuri rivers).
