Solymar, Uruguay
Solymar is a coastal resort or residential neighbourhood of the Ciudad de la Costa in the Canelones Department of Uruguay. Its name is a contraction of the words "Sun and Sea". Location Solymar borders the coastline of the Río de la Plata to the south, El Bosque and Lagomar to the west, Lomas de Solymar to the east and its northern limit is formed by the highway Ruta Interbalnearia. History In 1994, when Ciudad de la Costa took on the status of a city, Solymar was incorporated in it. Ciudad De La Costa
Ciudad de la Costa is a city in Canelones Department of Uruguay, on the banks of the Río de la Plata between the streams Arroyo Carrasco and Arroyo Pando. It is considered an extension of the metropolitan area of Montevideo which it borders to the west, while to the east it borders Costa de Oro. It was declared a city on 19 October 1994 and given its current name. At the 2011 census, it was the second most populated city of Uruguay between Montevideo and Salto. Ciudad de la Costa is also the name of the municipality to which the city belongs, but which does not include the area of Barra de Carrasco. Uruguay consists of 19 departments (''departamentos''). Each department has a legislature called a Departmental Board. The ''Intendente'' is the department's chief executive. History The first division of the Republic into six departments occurred on 27 January 1816. In February of the same year, two more departments were formed, and in 1828 one more was added. The Departamento de Canelones ( es, Departamento de Canelones; ) is one of the 19 uruguayan departments. With an area of and 518,154 inhabitants, it is located in the south of Uruguay. Uruguay's calling code is +598. Since 2010, national long distance calling was eliminated, thus there are no area codes in each city. Landline telephony ANTEL (Spanish abbreviation for National Administration of Telecommunications) is Uruguay's state-owned company for telecommunications. Previously in Uruguay, phone numbers used to have between 4 and 7 digits. To make a local phone call, you only had to dial those digits. The Río de la Plata (, "river of silver"), also called the River Plate or La Plata River in English, is the estuary formed by the confluence of the Uruguay River and the Paraná River at Punta Gorda. El Bosque is a small neighbourhood of Ciudad de la Costa in the Canelones Department of southern Uruguay. Location This neighbourhood is located just southeast of Lagomar and west of Solymar. Lagomar
Lagomar is a residential neighbourhood and resort of Ciudad de la Costa in Canelones, Uruguay. Location This resort is located just east of the Carrasco neighborhood (''barrio'') of eastern Montevideo, on the Río de la Plata coast. According to the census of 2004, its population was 7,798. History The name of the resort is in association with the saline waters of the lake just north of Avenida Luis Giannattasio (lake by the sea, sea being the Rio de la Plata). Lagomar was created as a resort in 1952 and was developed as part of the Costa de Oro near Montevideo and Canelones. Ruta Interbalnearia (which means Inter-resort Route) or Ruta Líber Seregni is a national route of Uruguay. It connects Montevideo with Punta del Este to the east along the coast. The road is approximately in length. It is marked on maps and signs as IB. ''Nuestra'' is the debut studio album of the Venezuelan rock band La Vida Bohème, released in August 2010. Recorded and produced by Rudy Pagliuca, it is a free download on the website of the record label All of the Above. The album was nominated for "Best Latin Pop, Rock or Urban Album" in the 54th Grammy Awards. The two singles from this album are "Radio Capital" and "Danz!". Background and Recording The album was recorded in Caracas in 2009, on fairly independent terms. Guitarist Daniel De Sousa happened to be studying engineering at the time, and took on designing a distortion pedal that was used on the album.
