Solun () is a town in the Hinggan League, of northeastern Inner Mongolia, People's Republic of China, located northwest, by road, of the city of Ulan Hot. Its name in the Mongolian language means "hunted paddock or hunting paddock", which could derive from the fact that the Kangxi Emperor (ruled 1661–1722) of the Qing Dynasty often came here to hunt, after being impressed by the local topography, purple appearance of the environs, valleys enclosed by lofty mountains, and three rivers. The Solon people () are a subgroup of the Ewenki (Evenk) people of northeastern Asia. They live in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Heilongjiang Province, and constitute the majority of China's Ewenki. Terminology and classification The Ewenki (also spelled Evenki) people are spread throughout the taiga forests of much of northeastern Asia, including most of Eastern Siberia and parts of Northeastern China. Solun Glacier ( bg, ледник Солун, lednik Solun, ) is the 9.3 km long and 4 km wide glacier on Pernik Peninsula, Loubet Coast on the west side of Antarctic Peninsula, situated east of Škorpil Glacier and northwest of McCance Glacier. It drains the north slopes of Protector Heights, and flows northwards into Darbel Bay. The Solun-Voden dialect, Lower Vardar dialect, or Kukush-Voden dialect is a South Slavic dialect spoken in parts of the Greek periphery of Central Macedonia, and the vicinity of Gevgelija and Dojran in the Republic of North Macedonia. It has been treated as part of both Macedonian and Bulgarian dialectology. Dialect area The dialect is named after Slavic toponyms for the cities of Thessaloniki (Solun), Edessa (Voden) and Kilkis (Kukush), or after the river Vardar.
