Solomon Levitan
Solomon Levitan (November 1, 1862 – February 27, 1940) was an American politician of the Republican Party who served as the treasurer of the state of Wisconsin on two occasions, once from 1923 to 1933, and again from 1937 to 1939. Biography Levitan was born in Tauroggen, East Prussia in 1862. A Jewish man, Levitan moved to Wisconsin and settled in the New Glarus, Wisconsin area in 1881 after antisemitism broke out in his native country. He later moved to Madison, Wisconsin, in 1905. Levitan died in 1940. Career Levitan twice ran unsuccessfully for treasurer before being elected in 1922. He served from 1923 to 1933 and again from 1937 to 1939. In 1924, he was delegate to the Republican National Convention. Henry Johnson (December 2, 1854March 5, 1941) was a Danish Americans, Danish American immigrant, farmer, logger, businessman, and Republican Party (United States), Republican politician. He was the 18th State Treasurer of Wisconsin, serving ten years from 1913 to 1923, and earlier served six years as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Oconto County, Wisconsin, Oconto County. Biography Johnson was born at Amendrup near Præstø, Denmark, on December 2, 1854. In 1873 he moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he remained until 1879. He then bought land in the town of How, Wisconsin, to which he moved and engaged in farming and logging. He also operated a warehouse and real estate business in the nearby village of Suring, Wisconsin, Suring. Robert Kirkland Henry (February 9, 1890 – November 20, 1946) was a banker and politician from Wisconsin. As a Democrat, he served as Wisconsin State Treasurer.
