Solidarity Prize
The Solidarity Prize ( pl, Nagroda Solidarności) – Polish award for promotion and protection of democracy and civil liberties. The prize has been established by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. Selection process The selection of the laureate is a two-stage process. Fifteen nominators, are presenting their candidates. Among nominators are Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, Polish minister of foreign affairs: current and former and globally recognized authorities in the field of democracy and human rights. Every year 1/3 of nominators is changed. The final decision on awarding the prize is made by the chapter of award, which in 2014 has been chaired by Poland's former president Lech Wałęsa. Adam Daniel Rotfeld
Adam Daniel Rotfeld (Polish pronunciation: ; born 4 March 1938) is a Polish researcher, diplomat, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland from 5 January 2005 until 31 October 2005 when a change of government took place. He served earlier as the deputy foreign minister. While in that position, Rotfeld established the Warsaw Reflection Group on the UN Reform and the Transformation of the Euro-Atlantic Security Institutions, with participation from leading US and European experts and politicians. From 1991 up to 2002 he served as Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and in 1989–1991 project leader on Building a Cooperative Security System in and for Europe at SIPRI. Boris Nemtsov
Boris Yefimovich Nemtsov ( rus, Бори́с Ефи́мович Немцо́в, p=bɐˈrʲis jɪˈfʲiməvʲɪtɕ nʲɪmˈtsof; 9 October 195927 February 2015) was a Russian physicist and liberal politician. He was involved in the introduction of reforms into the Russian post-Soviet economy. In the 1990s under President Boris Yeltsin, he was the first governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast (1991–1997). Zhanna Borisovna Nemtsova (russian: Жа́нна Бори́совна Немцо́ва; born 26 March 1984) is a Russian journalist and social activist. She is the daughter of Boris Nemtsov. Early life Nemtsova was born in Gorky, USSR (now Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) on 26 March 1984, to Russian statesman Boris Nemtsov and part-Tatar investor Raisa Akhmetovna Nemtsova. She graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Also in Moscow, she reached the "second level" of law studies.
