Sol Veritas Lux
''Sol Veritas Lux'' is an album by the English neofolk band Sol Invictus. It combines the first Sol Invictus release, the mini-LP '' Against the Modern World'', with the second release, the live album '' In the Jaws of the Serpent'', onto one CD. The music of this release is dark, rough, and primitive, and counts among the earliest efforts of the post-industrial neofolk music scene. It is one of Sol Invictus releases where Tony Wakeford shares lead vocals with Ian Read, who went on to Fire + Ice. It was originally released in 1990. In 2006, it was remastered for a re-release with extra tracks showing a current interpretation on the same material. Wakeford has been the sole constant member of the group since its inception, although numerous musicians have contributed and collaborated with Wakeford under the Sol Invictus name over the years. Neofolk may either be solely acoustic or combine acoustic folk instrumentation with various other sounds. Neoclassicism
Neoclassicism (also spelled Neo-classicism) was a Western cultural movement in the decorative and visual arts, literature, theatre, music, and architecture that drew inspiration from the art and culture of classical antiquity. Tony Wakeford
Anthony Charles "Tony" Wakeford (born 2 May 1959) is an English neofolk and neoclassical musician, who primarily records under the name Sol Invictus. Wakeford lives in London and is married to Sol Invictus violinist Renée Rosen. Musical work Pre-Sol Invictus work Wakeford was the bassist for the English political punk band Crisis from 1977 until the band's termination in 1980. Crisis played many concerts for Rock Against Racism and the Anti-Nazi League reflecting Wakeford's then membership of the Socialist Workers Party. He was briefly a member of The Runners From 84, a band started by Patrick Leagas. He then formed Death in June with Crisis guitarist Douglas Pearce and Leagas. This collaboration came to end both due to musical differences and because of Wakeford's membership at the time of the British National Front. Ian Read (musician)
Ian Read is an English neofolk and traditional folk musician, and occultist active within chaos magic and Germanic mysticism circles. Read was a member of Sol Invictus, and founded Fire + Ice in 1991. Early life Read left school at 16, and at the age of 17, he became an adherent of Germanic neopaganism and began studying Germanic paganism. Music career In 1987, Read joined Tony Wakeford's Sol Invictus along with Karl Blake. Read recorded three albums and an EP with Sol Invictus before leaving to form the band Fire + Ice in 1991.
