Sokyryntsi (also Sokyrynci, uk, Соки́ринці, pl, Siekierzyńce) is a village located at the Zbruch River in Chortkiv Raion ( district) of Ternopil Oblast ( province in western Ukraine). An oblast ( uk, о́бласть; ) in Ukraine, often called a region or province, is the main type of first-level administrative division of the country. A raion (also spelt rayon) is a type of administrative unit of several post-Soviet states. The term is used for both a type of subnational entity and a division of a city. The word is from the French (meaning 'honeycomb, department'), and is commonly translated as "district" in English.
