''Sofia Rotaru (''), also known as ''Ballad of Violins'' () is the second album by Soviet singer-songwriter Sofia Rotaru, released in 1974 by Melodiya. The album includes songs performed in Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Romanian languages. Track listing Side A The songs recorded on the side A are all performed in foreign languages, with the musical background played by band Chervona Ruta, directed by Anatoliy Evdokimenko. Songs 1, 3, 4 are performed in Ukrainian language, 2 - in Bulgarian, and 5 - in Romanian languages. Side B The songs recorded on side B are all in Russian language. Anatoliy Kyrylovych Yevdokymenko ( uk, Анато́лій Кири́лович Євдоки́менко; 20 January 1942 – 23 October 2002) was a Ukrainian musician, director of Chervona Ruta. He is a People's Artist of Ukraine, husband of Sofia Rotaru (marriage: 22 September 1968). Graduated from the Physics and Mathematics department of the Chernivtsi University. He was producer and scenario writer for most of concert programmes and tours of Sofia Rotaru. In 2003, the street where he lived in Chernivtsi was named after his name. Yevgeniy Grigorievich Martynov (russian: link=no, Евге́ний Григо́рьевич Марты́нов; May 22, 1948 – September 3, 1990) was a Soviet pop singer and composer, the older brother of the composer . Biography Martynov was born on May 22, 1948 in Kamyshin (now in Russia's Volgograd Oblast). His father was the commander of an infantry platoon, and was wounded during World War II, his mother was a nurse. The family moved to the Donbass region (Martynov's father's homeland), and settled in Artyomovsk. Yevgeniy displayed a musical talent since an early age. His father taught him to play the accordion. Martynov graduated from local music school as a clarinet player. Vyacheslav Grigoryevich Dobrynin ( rus, Вячесла́в Григо́рьевич Добры́нин, born Antonov/Анто́нов on January 25, 1946, Ryazanskaya oblast, Russia) is a popular Russian composer and singer also known as ''Doctor Shlyager''. He was awarded the People's Artist of Russia in 1996.' Dobrynin was born in 1946 to an Armenian father and a Russian mother. Chervona Ruta (ensemble)
Chervona Ruta was a Ukrainian music group that performed between 1971 and 1990. Chervona Ruta group was created in 1971 by Anatoliy Evdokimenko with the Chernivtsi Philharmonic specially for the accompaniment of Sofia Rotaru. The founding members of the group were part of the pop orchestra of the Chernivtsi University. For a long time, outside performances of the group by itself at occasional tours, Chervona Ruta was overshadowed by the People's Artist of Ukraine, People's Artist of Moldova, People's Artist of USSR - Sofia Rotaru.
