Socialtainer () is the Korean language term for an entertainer or celebrity who is invested in social issues. The word is used heavily in South Korean media, especially in newspapers, and show business. History The term has been defined as "celebrities who are known primarily for their work and advocacy for social justice." The word is a compound of "social" and "entertainer." In 2011, Korean English language media called ''socialtainer'' a buzzword in Korea, referring to a celebrity activist, and said the word was not in an English dictionary. Also, in that year, media made a distinction between the words ''socialtainer'' and "politainer" (politically active celebrities). However again in 2012, ''socialtainer'' was still defined by some media as "referring to entertainers who express their political ideas and give their opinions on social issues." Kim Je-dong
Kim Je-dong (born 3 February 1974) is a South Korean comedian, variety and talk show host on television. He is best known for hosting the talk show ''Healing Camp, Aren't You Happy'' on SBS. Background Kim is also famous for being one of the few "socialtainers" in Korea (a portmanteau of social and entertainer), and has received public support for his social awareness and very controversial comments. Yoon Do-hyun (born February 3, 1972) is a South Korean hard rock/folk rock singer, musician, and songwriter. He is the founder and lead vocalist of the Yoon Do-hyun Band (YB) since 1996. Yoon is also an MC on TV variety programs (notably ''Yoon Do-hyun's Love Letter'') and a musical theatre actor. Career Yoon Do-hyun was born in Imjin-myeon (currently Munsan-eup) in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
