Soccer Bowl 2013 was the North American Soccer League's postseason championship match of the 2013 season held to determine the NASL Champion. The event was contested in a one-game match between the Atlanta Silverbacks, winners of the Spring Championship, and the New York Cosmos, winners of the Fall Championship. The game was held on November 9, 2013 at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, in Atlanta, Georgia. It was televised at 7:30pm EDT on ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes. New York won the match by the score of 1–0. Background The Atlanta Silverbacks and the New York Cosmos respectively won the 2013 Spring Championship and Fall Championship. This earned both teams the right to compete for the NASL title. Paulo Ferreira-Mendes (born May 13, 1990) is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Puerto Rico FC in the North American Soccer League. Club career In 2012, Paulo Mendes and his twin brother Pedro signed with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the North American Soccer League after a successful stint at amateur side Cal FC, where he played in 2 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup games. In his first season with Atlanta, Mendes played 10 games, scoring once. After the 2012 season, Paulo joined the New York Cosmos where he won the Fall Championship, where he scored twice in 8 games. Ayoze García
Ayoze García Pérez (born 22 November 1985), known simply as Ayoze, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a left-back, currently assistant coach for USL Championship club Indy Eleven. He spent most of his 20-year senior career with Tenerife and the New York Cosmos, signing with the latter club in 2013. He retired following a spell in the USL Championship with Indy Eleven. Carlos Mendes (born December 25, 1980) is an American soccer manager and former player currently serving as head coach of the United States Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer program. He holds American and Portuguese nationality, due to lineage. Early life Mendes grew up in Mineola, New York and attended The Wheatley School. He was voted a high school All-American his senior year. Hunter Freeman (born January 8, 1985 in Tyler, Texas) is a retired American soccer player who currently is the director of domestic scouting for FC Cincinnati Career College and amateur As a teenager, Freeman trained in residency at the United States Soccer Federation's Bradenton Academy with the United States Under-17 national team. Joseph Nasco (born June 18, 1984) is an American professional soccer player. Career After spending time in Andrew College and Birmingham–Southern College, Nasco made eight appearances for Panama City Pirates in the USL Premier Development League. Kyle Patrick Reynish (born November 3, 1983) is a former American soccer goalkeeper. Playing career Youth and college Reynish attended Hart High School in Santa Clarita, California where he had a 0.84 career goals against average, as well as setting the school's single-season (14) and career (38) shutout records. He played college soccer for the University of California Santa Barbara from 2002–2006, sitting out between his freshman and sophomore seasons as a redshirt in the 2003 season.
