Sobrália
Sobrália is a municipality in Brazil in the state of Minas Gerais. Its population in 2020 was estimated to be 5,514 inhabitants. The name ''Sobrália'' came from a local Native American tribe referring to the flowers called sobralia. This city is where former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Glover Teixeira was born. It is also the ancestral home of Danbury, Connecticut City Councilman Farley Santos whose maternal Grandfather, Miguel Pereira Santiago was the first Mayor of Sobralia. His paternal Grandfather, Geraldo Jose “Duquinha” Viana was also a 2 term Mayor of Sobralia. History The first settlers arrived in the beginning of the 20th century. Glover Lucas Teixeira (; born 28 October 1979) is a Brazilian-American former professional mixed martial artist. He competed in the Light Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Teixeira is a former member of the Brazilian National Wrestling Team and has competed in the WEC, Impact FC, PFC and Shooto. He is the second oldest UFC champion in history behind Randy Couture and the oldest first time champion in UFC history. Sobralia
''Sobralia'' is a genus of orchids native to Mexico, Central and South America. The plants are more commonly terrestrial, but are also found growing epiphytically, in wet forests from sea level to about 8,800 ft. The genus was named for Dr. Francisco Sobral, a Spanish botanist. The genus is abbreviated Sob in trade journals. Their reed-like stems range in height from about 1 ft (33 cm) (such as in ''Sobralia galeottiana'') to 44 ft. (13.4 m) (in ''Sobralia altissima''). They have typically heavily veined, bilobed, plicate, apical leaves all along the stem.
