''Snake Tide'' is the debut EP by You Am I, released in May 1991. It is the last You Am I recording to feature original bassist Nik Tischler. Background After signing with Sydney-based independent label Timberyard Records Timberyard Records was a pioneering record label in the Australian independent music movement of the 1980s. Timberyard Records were established in 1985 in Newtown, New South Wales by Michael Danias. You Am I are an Australian alternative rock band, fronted by its lead singer-songwriter and guitarist, Tim Rogers. They formed in December 1989 and are the first Australian band to have released three successive albums that have each debuted at the number-one position on the ARIA Albums Chart: ''Hi Fi Way'' (February 1995), '' Hourly, Daily'' (July 1996) and '' #4 Record'' (April 1998). Nine of their tracks appeared on the related ARIA Singles Chart top 50 with "What I Don't Know 'bout You" (February 1998), their highest charting, at No. 28. Timberyard Records
Timberyard Records was a pioneering record label in the Australian independent music movement of the 1980s. Timberyard Records were established in 1985 in Newtown, New South Wales by Michael Danias. Initially releasing prominent underground Sydney acts such as Box the Jesuit, Candy Harlots, The Dubrovniks, Girl Monstar, Johnny Teen and the Broken Hearts and the Zen Genies. In 1989 the label released a Christmas compilation, ''Rockin' Bethlehem'', which featured a number of bands from the label, including The Dubrovniks, Ratcat, Girl Monstar, Steve Kilbey ( The Church), Damien Lovelock (The Celibate Rifles), The Jackson Code and Lime Spiders. Proceeds from the sales of the album went to the Camperdown Children's Hospital. In 1990 the label released a second Christmas compilation album, ''Rockin' Bethlehem - The Second Coming'', which featured The Falling Joys, Painters and Dockers, Ed Kuepper, The Screaming Tribesmen, Archie Roach and Paul Kelly. ''Goddamn'' is the second EP released by You Am I in May 1992. The EP was You Am I's first release with bassist Andy Kent who was previously a mixer for the band. It was You Am I's last release on Timberyard Records as they were then signed to Ra Records, a sub-branch of rooArt Records. Tim Rogers (musician)
Timothy Adrian Rogers (born 20 September 1969), known professionally as Tim Rogers, is an Australian musician, actor and writer, best known as the frontman of Australian rock band You Am I. He has also recorded solo albums with backing bands. As of July 2013, Rogers has released 12 albums with You Am I and five solo albums. Early life Born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Rogers moved between towns multiple times during his adolescence, including Adelaide and Canberra. Following his primary school years in Applecross, a suburb of Perth, Rogers later became school captain at Sydney school Oakhill College. Rogers studied law at the Australian National University in Canberra, aged 18, though did not complete a degree. While at ANU, Rogers lived at Toad Hall residential accommodation, and worked part-time at Canberra Theatre.
