Slovo (band)
Slovo is a south London based music collective founded by former Faithless guitarist Dave Randall. Their latest line up includes the Italian singer Barbarella (Barbara Pugliese of Barbarella's Bang Bang) and US hip-hop artist Mike Ladd, who both contribute to the album ''Bread & Butterflies'' which was released 17 July 2020. The group has previously released two other studio albums: ''nommo (2002)'' and ''Todo Cambia (2007)''. For the first album ''nommo'', Randall brought together Icelandic singer Emilíana Torrini, English singer Kirsty Hawkshaw, American hip hop recording artist Anthony Demore, drummer Max Roach, and the voices of Charlie Chaplin and Woody Guthrie. The album raised questions about the world and was in the words of ''The Sunday Times'', "a wonderful album that is both stridently polemical and determinedly celebratory". Dave Randall (musician Author)
Dave Randall is a British musician and writer. He is best known for his work as guitarist with Faithless and for his own band, Slovo. His playing credits include Sinéad O'Connor, Dido, Emiliana Torrini and 1 Giant Leap. He is author of the book ''Sound System – The Political Power of Music'' ( Pluto Press 2017). George Jackson (Black Panther)
George Lester Jackson (September 23, 1941 – August 21, 1971) was an American author, activist and prisoner. While serving an indeterminate sentence for the armed robbery of a gas station in 1961, Jackson became involved in revolutionary activity and co-founded the prison gang Black Guerrilla Family. In 1970, he was charged, along with two other Soledad Brothers, with the murder of Correctional Officer John Vincent Mills in the aftermath of a prison fight. The same year, he published ''Soledad Brother: The Prison Letters of George Jackson'', a combination of autobiography and manifesto addressed to an African-American audience. Damien Rice
Damien George Rice (born 7 December 1973) is an Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Lamb (electronic Band)
Lamb are an English electronic music duo from Manchester, whose music is influenced by trip hop, drum and bass and jazz. The duo consist of producer Andy Barlow and singer-songwriter Lou Rhodes. They achieved commercial success with the hit singles " Górecki" and "Gabriel". Biography On the basis of three songs, Barlow and Rhodes signed a six-album deal with Mercury Records in 1995. Grasscut are a musical group featuring composer/producer Andrew Phillips and musician/writer Marcus O'Dair. Phillips writes and produces all Grasscut music; he also sings and plays various instruments including guitar and keyboards. O'Dair manages the act and contributes keyboards and double bass. Andrea Britton is a British singer-songwriter and marketing consultant, and is also the Founder and Editor of Gozo in the House. Biography Britton has been releasing music since 2002.
