Slovak Atlantic Commission
The Slovak Atlantic Commission (SAC, Slovak: ''Slovenská atlantická komisia'') is a Slovak independent non-governmental organization, active in the area of domestic and international policy and security. The Slovak Atlantic Commission was founded in 1993 by Slovak diplomats to support accession of the Slovak Republic into NATO and EU. At the same time became observer and associate member of the multinational non-governmental organisation Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA). In 2004 the Slovak Atlantic Commission became a full-fledged member of ATA. In the early 2000s the organization was inactive and without budget. It was revived in the early 2000s by Róbert Vas who later founded the Globsec, GLOBSEC conference and acted as Secretary General of SAC. Slovak Language
Slovak () , is a West Slavic language of the Czech–Slovak group, written in Latin script. It is part of the Indo-European language family, and is one of the Slavic languages, which are part of the larger Balto-Slavic branch. Spoken by approximately 5 million people as a native language, primarily ethnic Slovaks, it serves as the official language of Slovakia and one of the 24 official languages of the European Union. Non-governmental Organization
A non-governmental organization (NGO) or non-governmental organisation (see spelling differences) is an organization that generally is formed independent from government. They are typically nonprofit entities, and many of them are active in humanitarianism or the social sciences; they can also include clubs and associations that provide services to their members and others. Atlantic Treaty Association
The Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) is an umbrella organization which draws together political leaders, academics, military officials, and diplomats to support the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The ATA is an independent organization that is separate from NATO. History The ATA was created on 18 June 1954. Since the end of the Cold War and the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact, the role of the Atlantic Treaty Association has changed considerably. Rastislav Káčer
Rastislav Káčer (born 9 July 1965 in Nová Baňa) is a Slovak diplomat, former ambassador of Slovakia to USA, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Since September 2022, Káčer serves as the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia. Early years Káčer studied primary and secondary schools in Žarnovica a Nitra. After graduating high school, he was unable to study Medicine due to his opposition to the Communist regime. After working in a factory for a year, he managed to enroll at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava to study Chemistry. After graduating in 1989, he worked for two years as a Researcher in an Agricultural research institute in Nitra. Following the Velvet Revolution, Káčer studied International relations at the Comenius University, graduating in 1995.
