Slingerz FC
Slingerz FC is a Guyanese football club based in Vergenoegen. The club competes in the West Demerara Senior League, one of several regional leagues in Guyana. Founded in 2013, the club never qualified for the GFF National Super League, the top football league in Guyana at the time. However, the team has been very successful in Guyana's many cup competitions, including winning the Mayors Cup, Guyana's top cup competition, in 2015 after finishing runners-up in the previous tournament in 2013. The team has also finished champions or runners-up in several smaller cup competitions. The club was an inaugural member of Guyana's new first division, the GFF Elite League, in 2015. Synthetic Track & Field Facility
The Synthetic Track and Field Facility in Leonora, Guyana is a 3000-seat multi-sport facility that is used by football club Slingerz FC as their home stadium. It is also used to host youth sports events. In 2018, it hosted six matches of the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship qualification, three featuring Guyana and three featuring other teams. Construction Costing approximately G$1.084 billion (US$ million), the facility officially began construction in December 2010 and was split into two phases. Phase one consisted of drain and irrigation works and the main access road, whilst Phase two consisted of making the actual track and other sports fields. Early on, the facility was scheduled to be opened on 27 March 2015, but was postponed 17 April. GFF Elite League
The Elite League, often referred to as GFF Elite League is the top level of the football system in Guyana. Contested by 10 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation. Top level before GFF Elite League was GFF National Super League. The competition was formed as the Stag Elite League in 2015 following a hiatus for the 2014-15 season. Its inaugural season consisted of 8 of the 11 FIFA licensed teams from Guyana. The league expanded to 10 teams for its second season, but four teams pulled out before the season began. Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Super League was the top division in Guyana. It was replaced by the GFF Elite League beginning with the 2015–16 season. The league used regional qualifying tournaments to determine participants. In its last installment in 2013–14, five teams from Georgetown, three from Upper Demerara, three from East Coast Demerara, two from Berbice, two from West Demerara, and one from East Bank Demerara were represented. Guyana Mayors Cup
The Guyana Mayors Cup is a major knockout regional football tournament in Guyana. It was created in 1999. It is an annual inter-ward/village Football Championship only open to invited teams. It takes place at the Georgetown Football Club ground, proposed alternate locations include Bourda, Mahaicony Community Centre, Victoria Community Centre and the Den Amstel Community Centre grounds. It is coordinated by former national football coach Lennox Arthur. It was originally between teams in Georgetown, but was expanded to invite teams throughout the country.
