Sleightholme Railway Station
Sleightholme was an early, short lived railway station near Newton Arlosh, Cumbria on the Carlisle & Silloth Bay Railway & Dock Company's branch from to The station served the small hamlet of Newton Arlosh and its rural surrounds, but was named after a farm which was nearer than the village. Its timetable entries show trains calling on Saturdays Only. It only appeared in public timetables from September 1856 to June 1857. By 1866 no trace of the station could be seen on OS maps. The line through the station site closed on 7 September 1964.Cumbria Railways

Newton Arlosh is a village in the civil parish of Holme East Waver in Cumbria, United Kingdom. Landmarks St. John the Evangelist's Church is one of the most complete fortified churches in the area. In ruins from the Dissolution until the 19th century, it was repaired and extended in 1844 by Sara Losh. Carlisle And Silloth Bay Railway
There were two interlinked railways on the south shore of the Solway Firth. The Port Carlisle Dock and Railway Company was opened in 1854, following the route of a former canal, intended to connect Port Carlisle, to which sea-going ships could navigate, with the city of Carlisle. The Carlisle and Silloth Bay Railway and Dock Company was built as an extension of the Port Carlisle line, opening in 1856, because silting of the Solway was making Port Carlisle unusable. The two railways operated collaboratively, but neither was successful financially and insolvency seemed inevitable. However the North British Railway (NBR) was building the line that became the Waverley Route from Edinburgh to Carlisle. The established railways at Carlisle obstructed the NBR's intended access, so the NBR leased the Port Carlisle and the Silloth companies, and connected with them at the Port Carlisle's station in Carlisle. ''Bradshaw's'' was a series of railway Public transport timetable, timetables and travel guide books published by W.J. Adams and later Henry Blacklock, both of London. They are named after founder George Bradshaw, who produced his first timetable in October 1839. Although Bradshaw died in 1853, the range of titles bearing his name (and commonly referred to by that alone) continued to expand for the remainder of the 19th and early part of the 20th century, covering at various times Continental Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand, as well as parts of the Middle-East. North British Railway
The North British Railway was a British railway company, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was established in 1844, with the intention of linking with English railways at Berwick. The line opened in 1846, and from the outset the company followed a policy of expanding its geographical area, and competing with the Caledonian Railway in particular. In doing so it committed huge sums of money, and incurred shareholder disapproval that resulted in two chairmen leaving the company. Nonetheless the company successfully reached Carlisle, where it later made a partnership with the Midland Railway. It also linked from Edinburgh to Perth and Dundee, but for many years the journey involved a ferry crossing of the Forth and the Tay. Abbey Junction Railway Station
Abbey Junction railway station was the railway junction where the branch line to Silloth railway station, Silloth on the Solway Firth divided from the Solway Junction Railway in the England, English county of Cumberland (later Cumbria). History A station on the site was opened as Abbeyholme by the Carlisle and Silloth Bay Railway in 1856, and was then renamed Abbey Junction by the North British Railway in 1870. It closed in 1921. A parallel station on the site was opened as Abbey Junction by the Maryport and Carlisle Railway. It closed briefly from 1917 to 1919 then permanently in 1921. The closure of the stations was linked to the closure of the Solway viaduct.
