Sleeuwijk
Sleeuwijk is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant and part of the municipality of Altena. History The village was first mentioned in 1268 as "Tyberio de Slewijck" and is a combination of neighbourhood and blunt. The village is known for its ferry to Gorinchem which has been known to exist since 1327. During the 20th century, the ferry caused long delays, and was replaced by the in 1961. In 2017, it was announced that the Merwedebrug which be replaced by a wider bridge, because it has become too narrow. Historically, it was part of the Land of Altena and was administered by Woudrichem. Werkendam () is a town and a former municipality in the southern Netherlands. The municipality, part of Land van Heusden en Altena, contained a large part of De Biesbosch area as is located in the province of North Brabant. Altena, North Brabant
Altena is a municipality in the Netherlands, on a river island in the very north of the province of North Brabant, bordering the provinces of Gelderland and South Holland. Nearby cities are Dordrecht in the west, Gorinchem in the north (both in South Holland), and Waalwijk in the south. Approximately 56,000 people live in an area of about 201 km², making Altena the largest municipality of North Brabant in terms of land area (surpassing Meierijstad). Korfball
Korfball ( nl, korfbal) is a ball sport, with similarities to netball and basketball. It is played by two teams of eight players with four female players and four male players in each team. The objective is to throw a ball into a netless basket that is mounted on a high pole. The sport was invented by Dutch school teacher Nico Broekhuysen in 1902. In the Netherlands there are approximately 500 clubs and more than 90,000 people playing korfball. The sport is also played in Belgium and Taiwan, and in nearly 70 other countries. Woudrichem (; Brabantian: ''Woerkum'') is a city and former municipality in the province of North Brabant in the Netherlands. History The city of Woudrichem was granted city rights in 1356. Geography The municipality is located at in the north of North Brabant just south of the center of the Netherlands. It is part of the region of Land van Heusden en Altena. The Land of Altena ( nl, Land van Altena) is a historical region and former fiefdom of the Lords of Altena, historically part of the County of Holland, but since 1815 located in the Dutch province of North Brabant. The Land of Altena lies on a river island in the estuary of the rivers Rhine and Meuse.
