Skævinge Station
Skævinge is a town with a population of 2,859 (1 January 2023) and a former municipality (Danish language, Danish, ''Municipalities of Denmark, kommune'') in Hillerød municipality in Capital Region of Denmark in the northern part of the island of Sealand (Denmark), Sealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The former Skævinge municipality covered an area of 68 km², and had a total population of 6,046 (2005). On 1 January 2007 Skævinge municipality ceased to exist as the result of Municipalities of Denmark#Municipal Reform 2007, ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged into existing Hillerød municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 191 km² and a total population of ca. 43,337. 1970 Danish Municipal Reform
The 1970 Danish Municipal Reform was an extensive administrative reform in Denmark which on 1 April 1970 reduced the number of Danish municipalities from 1,098 to 277 and the number of counties from 25 to 14. The reform also abolished the last legal privileges of the market towns ( sing. Danish: ''købstad''). The 1970 reform was followed by another municipal reform in 2007, namely the Structure Reform. This reform would further reduce the number of municipalities in Denmark, and replace the counties with regions. History In 1841, a law provided for the establishment of 1,021 parish municipalities (sing. Danish: ''sognekommune'') for the first time, and their numbers increased over the years, as did the number of ''købstadskommuner'' (sing. Danish: ''købstadskommune'').
